October 30 - 1 Year After The Deal!

disney

Happy Anniversary to Disney, Lucasfilm and all the fans. October 30, 2012 will always be remembered as the day which brought us a new hope about the future of our favourite franchise. We're only hours away from the next Star Wars Wednesday tease. What will it be ...

Many people are disappointed at the level of news we got so far about the new movies. I think we've got enough. Just ask yourselves the question "what did we know on October 29 last year?" Absolutely nothing!
Now we have 6 new Star Wars movies announced. We know the producers, the director, the writers and the most important people from the crew about the first movie. We know the writers of the spin-off movies and the Episode 7 script was in development for a whole year.

Disney's steps so far in the Star Wars Universe really show a great desire to do things in the right way so that the fans will be mostly pleased. Are they going to celebrate the 1 year anniversary after the announcement with some official press release remains to be seen in the following hours.

disney

The consecutive release of the three teasers from the Original Trilogy really suggested that something will happen today. Later Lucasfilm employees denied the rumors. I still believe that there will be some kind of an Episode 7 announcement. If I'm wrong at least we'll get the continuation of what it seems to be some kind of a viral campaign for the new movies.

I'll update this article constantly when something interesting is released today.

Any announcements should be expected before 5 pm EDT (11pm CET). That's  because I believe Lucasfilm are also considering the UK's time zone. We all know the UK has a special place in the Star Wars production process.

So stay tuned...

It looks like we might even got some more rumors today. :)

Maybe it's nothing but I like StarWars.com's front page image:

This McQuarrie art really screams "expectation". :)

While we're waiting here's an interesting Episode 7 tidbit from TFN member Frank_TJ_Mackey. Source: letapisrosedecatherine
Believe me or not, but I know at least one actor who auditioned for a role and he has been notified by the production that he did not get the role.

The actor was Francois Arnaud, who was rumoured as Christian in the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey as well.

100% confirmed.....so I guess that it means somebody did get the role, since people are being notified.

For all doubters: even if Lucasfilm doesn't have any intentions to release something today, they will. See the fuss on the web. It feels like New Year...

One of Lucasfilm's:

From Facebook:
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened...
I see many posts from the comments section saying that Disney never said anything about an announcement on that day and that everything was just a speculation. OK, but why do you release the teaser trailers for Episode 4, 5 and 6 leading to the date when the Episode 7 announcement was made? Is this some kind of a joke, or just a coincidence? Or maybe something has changed? Whatever the case Disney/Lucasfilm failed to score some easy points with the fans today. They should have at least mentioned something about the anniversary.

So no announcements for the fans but they will surely release something about their shareholders before November 7 when is Disney's 2013 Earnings Results Webcast...

    2. After they announced they would be doing origin films, I figured a Jar Jar: Origins movie would be in line. They can show how he was banished from his home and everything...

    3. Jar Jar is my favourite character by far far

    4. I was kidding as well, but you know damn well that it's "doable". Thank god we, the fans, spoke up about our dislike of Mr. Binks. Imagine if somehow nobody ever said they hated Jar Jar and Disney had no idea nobody wanted to see that film... Not that they would make his story a movie anyway, but you know.

    2. ^^^ YES. That could be included after the temples are shown and the screen fades to black and after the quote is finished, we see the revealed title of the film. AHHH I'm getting pissed just knowing that whatever information that comes out today will most likely be a disappointment... There's no point in getting my hopes up.

    4. Well considering the fact that Episode I was made after VI, and considering the fact that Disney JUST released an official statement last week, you are stupid for awaiting an episode VII announcement today.

  13. Best Episode VII teaser trailer:
    Flashback to footage from ESB.
Yoda: "Will he finish what he begins?"
Luke: "I won't fail you... I'm not afraid"
The scene quickly turnes to a hooded figure walking through dense forest with a small astrodroid behind him. He pulls away a curtain of thick willow branches and as the sun casts its light over his face, we see Hammil with a beard, staring off with a deep hope in his eyes as the camera pans around him to reveal what it is he's gazing at; the Massassi temples on Ossus.

HOW DIFFICULT WOULD IT BE FOR THEM TO FILM SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS THAT FOR A TEASER? The fandom universe would erupt in ecstatic excitement and it'd be a perfect way to kick off the viral campaign for the new installment. They'd be satisfying both the OT fans and the younger generation.

    1. Im 40, (nearly 41) and I fell you buddy. The kid inside me has awoken, and he is very exited.
Ive got a 8 year old son, and he`ll be 10 when (if) the movie comes out in 2015. I hop I can take him to the cinema and experience the same great feeling I had with my father back inn 1983, when we saw Return Of The Jedi together. My late father loved the Star Wars movies. And the thing that made those movies so special, was that they related not only to my generation back then, but to my parents generation as well. The prequels wasn't even close to that.

      Delete
    2. I remember it like it was yesterday - going to the cinema in 1977(78?) to see Star Wars with my late dad too - and him laughing at Han kicking Chewie down the garbage shoot. I don't hate the prequels, I just think that I was too old to appreciate them as Lucas intended (my young nephews loved them)

      Delete
    3. Hate is a strong word, and I can't say I really hate the prequels, but they lacked the magic. Its like Lucas took them to seriously, and forgot the playfulness the original movies had.

But, today is about looking forward, right? :)

      Delete
    4. Today is defo a day to look forward. Lets hope we get something.

You right about prequels, too serious (except for Jar Jar - WTF!) lol

    5. I'm 30 and I honestly can remember when I first saw a glimpse of one... I once I saw a really cool movie with giant beast like machines in the snow at my aunts house... when I was 4. So yeah Star Wars was pretty impactful lol... It wouldn't be for a few years later until I saw Empires when I was like... This! THIS IS THE MOVIE WITH THE ROBOTS IN THE SNOW!

Loved SW ever since and my Dad took me to the special edition theater releases.

Not a fan of the prequels at all... but as you said no sense dwelling on them. It's the future now! I really have high hopes for JJ and Disney.

    6. My eldest brother took me to see SW in 77' or is it 78', I was 7 or 8 at that time and we been huge fans since. He would buy me SW merchandises that he comes across and built me SW model kits. Even in our adult life, SW was never far from our conversations.

He won't be able to watch Ep7 with me when it premieres in 2015 because he became one with the Force early this year. I hope he will be watching it in a cinema in heaven. May the Force be with you, bro!

      Delete
    7. Ah man. Sorry to hear it he sounds like he was a great brother. Just remember all across the world you've got many more Force brothers!

  19. Don't mean to burst your expectation bubble, but there is going to be nothing. No news. Disney's official news was a few days ago when they announced "filming will be pushed back." Because apparently, Disney enjoys annoying Star Wars fans.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Where did they say that "filming will be pushed back"? I've read their statement back to front and nowhere does it say filming is delayed. Nor does it state the script/screenplay is being rewritten. Lucas produced a treatment for ep 7, this was passed on to Arndt to flesh out the story. Once he'd done this he'd fullfilled his part of the deal. The script/screenplay was then handed on to JJ and Kasdan for some fine-tuning. Every movie goes through several drafts and the production time-frame allows for this.

      Delete
    2. ^don't mean to contradict you, but back in the time of D23, we had more info than we do now. Back then we had a definite release date (May 2015) and a definite screenwriter (Ardnt.) Now? We're not sure WHEN the darned thing is released, and we have no idea if Ardnt is cowriting or if he got fired or if JJ is doing rewrites of a complete overhaul, etc. etc.

As the months have gone by, Episode VII is even foggier than it was.

  67. They could of re-released the Phantom Menace trailer. That would have given them another few weeks (AOTC, ROTS) before announcing something/anything about Episode 7. Is does kind of feel like there are problems with the pre-production. But, those things do happen. It's hard being a Star Wars fan. Just give us anything once a week...a picture of a shoe of an extra from the set...a picture of a door from a set...it doesn't even have to reveal anything...just little things like that will calm the anger and fuel the hope that this is going to work for ALL of us.

    ReplyDelete
  73. What if they never intended to release anything at all today, and this was all just fan speculation?

    ReplyDelete
  74. The best thing we could do, is to shut up. Stop writing, speculating, until Disney sees there is no insert anymore. Then they will panic, and release something. Right now, they have got us where they want us.

  81. It'd be really funny if they released another OT teaser trailer just to piss us all off and then released the real news on some date that no one's expecting. Perhaps news was scheduled to be released today, but the internet exploded with rumors when we figured out the weekly pattern they clearly established, and so they changed their gameplan. Perhaps this "viral campaign" is to be entirely based on shock factor and audience response. There are just too many possibilities. I think I'm putting far too much thought power into my hopes and expectations.

  87. The phrase "Kind of makes you want to watch it all over again, right?" makes me think that they are planning to either relase the ORIGINAL theatrical versions of the original trilogy on Blu-Ray or to theatres. Disney did say when they bought the rights that they would do the former. It's easy money, either way, for Disney. Don't ya think?

  94. Sure, Disney was releasing trailers. But it wasn't their fault that people were flipping their lids about it. They denied everything and yet people still want to go and make more rumors. Then when nothing happens it's Disney's fault. Really? I'm not defending Disney, because i'm very disappointedthat they've made some sub par Pixar movie lately and that there is no announcement today, but everyone is acting like entitled children. From the looks of it, the script isn't even finished yet, why can't you just be patient and quit believing every single rumor that comes out about this movie?

    1. They put out trailers for 4, 5, and 6 each week leading up to October 30th! It would make perfect sense for them to announce something today! I just don't know why they didn't. They could of announced thee title maybe! Something! It didn't have to be a trailer for ep 7
