Now this is another rumor but this time from a not so credible source. Still check it out. The Adam Driver part is no surprise at all but we've never heard before about Serkis' possible involvement. Also hit the jump for a few pictures of Carrie Fisher from London...
From List.co.uk:
Director J.J. Abrams has hosted a dinner for the cast of his highly anticipated movie 'Star Wars: Episode VII'.
The 'Star Wars: Episode VII' cast have met up for the first time.
Director J.J. Abrams hosted a bonding session at upmarket London restaurant 34, where new cast members Adam Driver and Andy Serkis were joined by three familiar faces from the sci-fi franchise, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew ahead of a planned script read through later this week.
"The cast are being flown out to various locations to film.
"Bosses want to capitalise on them all being in London by booking in a get-together. It was a top secret mission, nobody was allowed to let on they'd be meeting up."
Andy Serkis is considered to be the best motion capture artist out there, so his possible involvement with the movie shouldn't be surprise at all. Still take this with a grain of salt.
Carrie Fisher and chat show host Graham Norton dined out at the Chiltern Firehouse in London together in Monday.

ReplyDeleteYes I know. That's why I stated this twice in the article. :)
DeleteI am totally on board with Andy Serkis in SW! Would be great if true!
DeleteAlso, glad to see Carrie made it to London. Worst kept secret in the world. :P But happy for it!!!
BTW -- Carrie looks AWESOME!!!! People (ie fans) need to give her props and tons of respect for taking this seriously and preparing.
She's only 5ft 1". It's nearly impossible to keep off weight when you're so short, especially being at her age, and with all the medication she's on. She deserves a lot of respect and if I see anybody making stupid jabba the hutt jokes then there will be blood shed
Deletedamnnnn is it just me or is Carrie looking hawt
ReplyDeleteIt is just you.
Deleteshe looks good!... she´s ready
DeleteIt is a great relief to see that both Mark and Carrie have managed to pull themselves back from blobsterhood. The trainers and nutritionists hired by Disney have worked wonders. The actors should be glad: Luke and Leia are GOOD for them! Talk about fringe benefit ...
DeleteCarrie looks great !
ReplyDeleteSo Gollum and King Kong may now appear in Star Wars as well ... so to speak. Or will this be one of the rare moments when Serkis actually gets to show his own face?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, he could well portray some exotic CGI alien. It is his thing.
Andy Serkis should have played Jar Jar. Granted he was a ridiculous character to begin with, but maybe...just maybe...
ReplyDeleteCaesar would be an awesome Jedi. Some kind of new SW species that looks like earth's apes?...LOL...but he seriously is a great actor.
Carrie looks so great!!!
ReplyDeletePlease not Andy Serkis. Way too distracting, even when he's cgi'd as an alien or whatever
ReplyDeletepfft... Andy Serkis. You would think he is the only actor in the world who does motion capture acting.
ReplyDeleteGive someone else a chance, please. He is like the Morgan Freeman of mo cap actors... been in every single movie. Played out.
Agree. Sick and tired of that guy.
DeleteI will be so dissapointed if he's in it. Hes become this go-to guy. New faces pleeease, and if they're hiring high profile actors then they can do a lot better than andy serkis of all people.
DeleteI think we're still being fed red herrings! JJ will want us to be completely surprised at the 'new' cast. Which is way it's mostly the original cast that is bandied about in the media. Most of the rest is meant to muddy the waters; misinformation, misdirection and red herrings to hide the new generation of characters that will drive the SW story into the future.
ReplyDeleteYeah, she looks great from where she was a year ago. Not sure how I feel about Serkis, I'll leave that to the experts. It really seems like things are coming together. With all the media hype in full swing, JJ should just go ahead and give a tidbit, because it looks like were going to find out anyway, camera's, mobile phones, and mic's everywhere. Anyay very exciting
ReplyDeleteI'm calling BS on Serkis.
ReplyDeleteIf they didn't want Cumberbath because of his connection with another high profile franchise, I doubt they'll want Serkis for the same reason. But I could be wrong.
I disagree, "If they didn't want Cumberbath because of his connection with another high profile franchise". It's not that, it's because he was in Star Trek with JJ Abrams, would "mix" the franchises. And, for your sentence, no other actor could be cast because they worked in other franchises.
DeleteAndy Serkis? The best motion-picture actor of all time in Star Wars? Man, this gonna be epic.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Doug Jones in there too.
Deleteandy serkis the best motion picture actor of all time ?? uhhh no no no no lol
Deletehe's definately the one who hogs up the spotlight. But he's not the best, and certainly not the only one out there.
DeleteI find it hilarious that everybody is praising Andy Serkis and kissing his feet without even thinking about the implications....
ReplyDelete... there's going to be CG characters in this supposedly "practical effect"-driven film. Significant CG characters. (Because Serkis doesn't play performance capture cameos.)
God I hope Andy isn't in this. He only really shines when doing motion capture work and god I don't want any major characters that are motion capture or CG. Jar Jar binks anyone? They're just distracting. I call BS on this. A dinner where they are meeting for the first time? Casting is a big process and they will have met many a times before for screen tests to test out their chemistry with eachother. Well I hope that's the case. If not then I smell an upcoming disaster when it comes to casting.
