The guys from MakingStarWars continue to post evidence that the breakfast event being held for George Lucas, classic Star Wars cast members and Disney executives is indeed happening, despite some denial reports from other sites...
From MakingStarWars:
The team at MakingStarWars.net is not promising you any Star Wars: Episode VII announcements. We are hearing lots of things about them, but there is no conclusive link to this breakfast and Star Wars: Episode VII. It appears to be a level above coincidence, but there is no evidence beyond the shadow of a doubt. At this precise moment, we can only confirm to you that the breakfast itself is happening.
We are saying this special executive breakfast is taking place today. Because it is.
The breakfast is important and most likely is to celebrate something related to the development of Star Wars: Episode VII. Our sources believe this to be the case, but they do not know for sure. We personally would find it weird if George Lucas and some of the original trilogy cast showed up to an announcement about theme park development or something to do with products and toys.
Very early in the morning for us west coasters, we received these images before the breakfast was to begin. If you still do not believe the breakfast is taking place, I don’t know how we can convince you. There are other parts to this story I can never post without endangering our sources. I am not going to do that. At this juncture, this is what we can show you.
Stay tuned for more. Congrats to Jason and the MakingStarWars team for the great scoop.
P.S. Oh, and Happy Birthday to me. Thanks Lucasfilm for celebrating my birthday in such classy way with so many important guests. I'm touched. :)
And while we wait for something to happen here's a pretty interesting tweet from Vulture's Senior Editor Kyle Buchanan:
Star Wars 7 casting announcements will come soon, but I'm told that Disney will hold the title reveal until Comic Con. Worked for Marvel...
— Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) April 24, 2014
UPDATE!
A minor update from makingstarwars:
The facts we have so far:
- All the executives that were invited made it.
- The event lasted from 8am-11:30am.
We are still waiting on some sources about the rumored guests beyond Disney Executives.
- VIPS were sitting outside which made it hard for some staff to see them.
UPDATE 2!
More rumors from the breakfast:
From what we have heard about the event, there was a lot of discussion about Boba Fett at the breakfast. The executives are apparently enthusiastic about the rocket man. There are some minor problems going forward with a film about a villain, however. The general problem with Boba Fett is how to use him effectively without ruining his evil essence to make him the protagonist of a Star Wars Spin-off film. The executive was overheard (paraphrased) as saying:
"Lucasfilm wants Boba Fett to remain menacing and scary but we have to make him the hero of the film and it is a real challenge."
Lucasfilm is adapting the Marvel model for most of what they are doing but there isn’t a clear cut precedence for a Boba film to follow. So far, Marvel hasn’t been able to figure out how to make a villain into a hero while keeping the villain dangerous and evil outside of Loki’s antics through various Marvel films.
Happy Birthday Viral Hide.
ReplyDeleteIt would be cool if the cast was made public the same day. :)
cool and happy b day
ReplyDeleteAre people still going to call bullshit on this breakfast still. "We personally would find it weird if George Lucas and some of the original trilogy cast showed up to an announcement about theme park development or something to do with products and toys." lol, cannot agree more. If original cast members are there, then this is the day for their announcement. and Happy Birthday to Viral. May the force be with you !!
ReplyDeleteNice! Exciting news! And happy birthday Viral! :D
ReplyDeleteWasn't the food going to be Star Wars-themed? I imagine an enormous block of marzipan, shaped like a ife-size Han Solo frozen in carbonite.
ReplyDeleteThe Jar-Jar Ice Cake is also a must. Not because anyone will eat it, but so that the guests can have the satisfaction of seeing it melt away and disappear.
Enough of the Jar Jar hate. Sheesh. You interject this 15-year-old prejudice into everything. I know the gungans ruined your 'awesome' childhood, but really. Grow up.
DeleteSince I'm born in 1971, my admittedly awesome childhood ended long before the glorious appearance of Mr. Binks in 1999. But I'm sure the participants in the breakfast can honor him: Put some food on the plate, shoot out your tongue and pick up the goodies in a fraction of a second! Just make sure the guy sitting next to you doesn't have Jedi reflexes, in case he doesn't appreciate your table manners.
DeleteHa. The Jar-Jar hate will never die.
DeleteHappy Birthday Viral. I have a special Star Warsy thing happen for my birthday. George Lucas started writing episode 1 on 1/11/1994. Or 11/1/1994 if you're American.
ReplyDeleteI will be frequenting this site throughout the day today...more so than usual...I hope we hear something. Happy Birthday Viral!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that they're trying to hide it from our eyes is a pretty good indication that real announcements will be made at this breakfast, although it may not be for the fans to see just yet. I truly hope we get some sort of confirmation out of this.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, all I'm expecting is "welcome everybody to this wonderful Star Wars breakfast provided just for you! We are happy to announce that Star Wars weekends are in order, and will get started in the Magic Kingdom on ... so and so date.... and Star Wars VII is filming now! Enjoy your breakfast and may the force be with you."
DeleteLoud applause. Chomp.
Thanks guys. My 34th birthday is really shaping to be special. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday dude! Get pissed!
DeleteSo your an Empire baby...1980.
Delete^ Absolutely :)
DeletePenblwydd Hapus :)
DeleteHappy Bday, Viral! I was four when you were born, & that June or July I read the Time Magazine article with Lucas, & there my troubles began. After that, I was interested in what was to come in Ep's VI, I, II, & III, but it was the sequels that were strangely calling to me. For years, I battled classmates, friends, girlfriends, family, etc. over the "there are only six films, and nothing more". On Oct 30 2012, it was my room mate that brought the news to me with a handshake, saying "I just wanted to congratulate you on being right." "About what?" What indeed. Anyway, hope your birthday has been a blast, & hopefully we will all get the casting announcement sooner than later!
DeleteDude, I have been creeping on here since the beginning. Thanks for everything and have a rockin' birthday!
DeleteHappy Birthday,compadre! ;^)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on your birthday Viral Hide! Can't wait to see what gets served up at Breakfast!!
ReplyDeletei want this to be true as much as anyone but to play devils advocate. these pics are taken at the sci-fi dine in theater at disney world... you can tell from the car in the lower picture... is that where the breakfast was supposed to be taking place??? and i know that there are special star wars breakfasts planned this year... like i said i want this to be true but don't want to jump ahead of myself... i thought the breakfast we were all waiting for was to be somewhere else... but i could be wrong... thanks for all the work viral. and happy bday
ReplyDeleteYeah, I have not doubt that people are having breakfast in Disney World right now, but whether or not those people include George, Carrie, Mark, and Harrison is still up for debate...
Deleteya seems like a perhaps dingy, perhaps dated, cheesy back drop for an important announcement. Seems a little off and why would it be "personally weird" if George meet with Disney people and old cast members there? (btw do we know those specific people are meeting?) why couldnt it be a theme park or other related announcement, why wouldnt they want press theree if they were making an announcement on cast?
DeleteI'd love to eat my words on this but I just dont quite get it....
...also anyone else find it cheesy and self-satisfying to serve star wars themed food for cast and executives for an alledged announcement celebration? that seems like that would be better suited for theme park patrons or children... maybe... I don't know.
DeleteCarrie Fishers birthday is on the 21st of Oct when mine is the 31st so that's my vague star wars connection hehe. Yes it's also halloween. And also my brothers birthday too. fml.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Viral Hide! Thanks for bringing us news of our beloved saga.
ReplyDeleteThey serve blue milk?
ReplyDeleteHappy B-Day Viral Hide!!! Start shaking those presents and see if any of them sound like news.
ReplyDeleteI dunno, for a big Disney event, the whole thing looks rather......amateurish. I suspect someone is playing a trick on us....
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly.
DeleteI thought of something that changed my apprehension about JJ and this movie. You know how movies generally have a three act structure? The opening act typically starts with adventure and excitement, while the second act settles down into the meat of the story. Well, the same could apply to this new trilogy as a whole. The first episode needs precisely the kind of energy JJ possess in order to get the series off to a start. Then, a director with a different pace can be brought on for the next film. The director of the third act would then bring all of these elements together into a climactic end with a sense of closure.
ReplyDeleteSo just like the other 2 trilogies did?
Delete"Then, a director with a different pace can be brought on for the next film."
Delete"So just like the other 2 trilogies did?"
Nope. If only...
Like the classic trilogy did
DeleteI don't recall return of the jedi or empire strikes back starting with a big action sequence.
DeleteAnd yet, Revenge of the Sith DID.
return of the jedi had a really good sense of closure. The empire was finished. Anakin balanced the Force (and yes guys, he did.) Lucas meant for the series to end at that point. He never had plans to film 7-9, so that was that. I hope episodes 7-9 won't seem like an afterthought.
Delete"The general press is not invited to this event as it’s meant only for high level Disney executives, George Lucas, and certain key members of the original Star Wars cast. As the press isn’t meant to know about this, when a Star Wars fan site emails Lucasfilm asking about it they’re going to deny it. Either they’re denying it exists to avoid press inquiries about a secret gathering, or they flat out don’t know about it as it’s not their job to know about this specific “event”. Ask yourself this. Why would George Lucas, who is officially retired from Star Wars, be attending a Star Wars themed meal with very high-level Disney execs and important members of the original trilogy cast? Why would that be going on if it had nothing to do with Episode VII? This definitely isn’t some kind of meeting about toys or the Rebels series."
ReplyDeleteIf you're right and it's such a big secret, then there is no chance we'll hear any news, because that will be a secret too. It is not a press event.
DeleteYou're right, its a celebration-of-shtty-foggy-cellphone-camera-images convention.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Viral Hide, keep up the great work! Fingers crossed there's some sweet news from breakfast!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Alan Horn has already flown to the UK or if he will be at this event... if indeed this event is real. I hope it is!
ReplyDeletewell i can gaurantee you the pictures posted above of "this event" are not in the uk... that's sci-fi dine in theater in WDW no doubt at all. been there enough times to walk around blind and not run into anything... so his flying to the UK would not put him at above pictured event.
DeleteI thought the event is in Florida
DeleteWDW or Walt Disney World is in Florida; Walt Disneyland is in California... if that helps
ReplyDeleteIf this event is in Florida, then I think we get no EP7 news. If it's in California, we may get something. Isn't Harrison shooting a movie in the UK or something? I don't see Alan Horn going to FL and then the UK.
ReplyDeleteGeorge might show up to cut the ribbon on the new SW merry-go-round at Disneyworld or something. Without a budget determined for EP 7, can they possibly start shooting in May? Also, no lead actor yet, obviously that is the biggest problem. And apparently the script is still being revised.
ReplyDeleteExecutive Events aren't held on park grounds (laughs) They have 'executive' facilities at Disney headquarter offices.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is the same kind of sponsor marketing economics that high view traffic YouTube posters receive are now being used by movie studios to lure public attention away from the inner workings of high profile productions like these....in a sense by paying off mainstream bloggers to essentially lie about said 'events'.
It looks like this morning's happening is something to do with this:
ReplyDeletehttp://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2014/04/feel-the-force-dining-event-offers-more-fun-for-star-wars-weekends-at-disneys-hollywood-studios/
While nothing is certain here, that event doesn't occur on Thursday. So, this is probably something else. The above leaks may not be related to EpVII at all, or the alleged secret breakfast meeting. Could be from some other event. I hope it's the secret meeting, and that this means we'll have some news soon, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
DeleteI wonder if they are doing the breakfast at the SCI-FI THEATRE (with a movie screen) so that they can show 2nd unit film or possibly a TEASER TRAILER. Trailer I hope!!~!
ReplyDeleteFirstly, Happy Bday Viral. Love the site. Secondly, we are not getting an announcement at this breakfast. lastly, Alan Horn is a Bullshitter and a scumbag. I dont believe that they are still casting for a second. Disney isn't waiting til the last second to cast the lead in their 4.5 billion dollar investment. Lets hope for some casting news soon
ReplyDeleteReally? If it is cast, then why the hold up? Why are they not filming right now if everyone is signed up?
DeleteSo naive. They announced that principle photography starts filming in May. I bet you think that nobody has been cast yet, and they are frantically searching for actors to be in it. Films are cast well before filming starts buddy
DeleteRaw, they also announced that SW7 would be released Summer 2015 and then they CHANGED that and now it's December 18. I don't believe announcements are set in stone.
DeleteAlso, you did not answer my questions. And don't call me naïve, Junior.
I only said the lead actor is not yet cast. They probably have everyone else set.
DeleteNo point of arguing with an anonymous Star Wars Fan over the internet about something that cant be proved/disproved. Live long and prosper pal
DeleteI dont think there is a final budge either but it is apparently ball parked to be between 175 and 200 million...
ReplyDeletehappy bday viral! i have to agree with all the doubters. there is no way these pics are what they claim to be. and since the pics are false its logical to assume the whole report is false. I guess its back to fighting over OT PT and EU :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Viral, this site has become the first SW related site I visit everyday. That is quite a feat because theforce.net had that honor for the last 1.5 decades...
ReplyDeletePS: Could you make it somehow possible to sign in with twitter, or even better, with the jedicouncil accounts? I hate to post as anonymous
Unfortunately that's a limitation of blogger. Still I think a G+ account is really something useful. And you can always use the name/url option. You don't have to put a real url. :)
DeleteOh, and I'm working hard on making a forum for this site...
DeleteDear sir i would like to express my dissatisfaction with all these anonymous posts. if they have something to say why don't they give themselves some silly ambiguous name so we know exactly who they are and whats there angle!!!
ReplyDelete:Anonymous
he's right you know
DeleteHe's partially correct. The main problem with Anons is that it's often not possible to follow the back-and-forth when multiple Anons are commenting. That and that it typically seems to encourage less thoughtful comments.
DeleteRubbish. The anon comments are no less thoughtful, or more heinous, than those made by registered "Bloggers." While I get that sometimes following the back-n-forth can be somewhat more tedious, its not worth eliminating the contributions of anonymous posters. OT v. PT v. EU = Anons v. Registered "Bloggers" now. Find something more interesting to fight about.
DeleteYes, hiding behind a fake name will make such a big difference.
Deleteit aggrivates me to know that these guys are feasting and laughing while we're sweating here waiting for any tidbits of information, which probably won't happen.
ReplyDeleteit bothers me that it bothers you so much. the movie will come out in due time. why do you need to know everything? they don't owe you anything.
DeleteIf they had the lead actor, there would be some kind of finalist list, like a top 5. That always happens. There is like a Top 5 contenders list, and then one of those guys gets it. I thought Plemmons was gonna get it when the last list came out. But they scrapped those 5 dudes (a good idea) and said, let's keep looking.
ReplyDeletethey're casting unkowns for the lead actor. Jesse was probably up for the villain or some other character
DeleteAn actor named Logan Huffman has been cast as 'one' of the Skywalkers, if that appeases your obsessive impatience. Not that you deserve any news before its time, my telling you this is but an example of the senselessness of receiving information before it's time. Take it for what its worth.
DeleteWell that was rather touchy. Are you the same person who randomly posted this??- http://i.imgur.com/iVko6Af.jpg
Deleteand the same person claiming that John Rhys-Davies and Jason Momoa have been cast? Should we all bow down at you and automatically trust you for some reason or something?
"Take it for what its worth."
Deletea.k.a ... nothing
These photos are BS... 100% unadulterated BS!. They were taken at the Sci Fi Dine in Theater at Disney Studios in Orlando. Formally Disney/MGM studios. I would say these photos are at least 10 years old as the guy in the blue shirt with his back to us is wearing a Disney pager on his right hip. This is the old text system Disney managers used before cell phones became prevalent. I know as I used to work for Disney and I had to carry one of these for a short time.
Delete@ LF
DeleteTell us more. I sense disturbance...
Wow lol what is the thing on his belt on the left side I assumed it was a smart phone. but if this is true someone is trolling all of us hard
DeleteThe guy in the blue shirt with his back to us is wearing what looks like a pager on his right hip. On his left he has what looks like a cell phone, but it looks more like a flip phone circa 2004-06. I left Disney in July of 2000, and I had to carry a similar device for a short period of time. It's not a phone, but rather an "instant text message device". The idea is for managers and supervisors to be contacted directly without having to alert the guest to problems. It's all about "maintaining the magic" even when the real world would creep in.
DeleteIt's also obvious that the photos were taken at the Sci Fi dine in theater in Orlando, and the breakfast mentioned was in California. So these photos are not from "The Breakfast".
Happy Birthday Viral Hide, May the Force Be With You
ReplyDeleteLooks like an event geared more towards fat tourists in cargo shorts than top Disney brass and O.G. cast members... but hey, is that Greedo!? Is he in Ep7?!
ReplyDeleteHan may have shot first, but he may have to shoot him again. lol
DeleteMaybe the son of Greedo, out to get revenge on Han - LOL
DeleteGreedo Jr in Ugg boots... Lulz!
DeleteLet's get this straight. Han DID NOT SHOOT FIRST. Han is the ONLY one who shot. Period.
DeleteGeorge Lucas said this in a 2012 interview with The Hollywood Reporter: "The controversy over who shot first, Greedo or Han Solo, in Episode IV, what I did was try to clean up the confusion, but obviously it upset people because they wanted Solo to be a cold-blooded killer, but he actually isn’t. It had been done in all close-ups and it was confusing about who did what to whom. I put a little wider shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shot first, but everyone wanted to think that Han shot first, because they wanted to think that he actually just gunned him down."
DeleteI agree that the 1977 original release is the best, however, George does what he wants. The point is: Greedo is dead and Han killed him.
Harrison Ford, was also asked in a Reddit AMA, "Hi Mr, Ford. I think we would all like to know: Who shot first? Han Solo or Greedo?"; he responded: "I don't know and I don't care." - Ditto that... :)
Reminds me of: "What are you, son? Ignorant or apathetic?" "I don't know and I don't care."
DeleteHarrison Ford has always held himself aloof from Star Wars fandom, right? (Let us remember for a moment that "fan" is short for "fanatic".) In the original script and the original movie, Han was indeed the only one who shot. He DID gun down Greedo in cold blood. Later Lucas had second thoughts about this, and tried to alter the scene so it became an act of self-defence. The result looks somewhat clumsy, but here we are.
DeleteSo what "really" happened? It is like asking whether or not Luke "really" gave out a scream when he let himself fall in Cloud City. In the original release he fell in silence, then there was a version where he screamed, more recently he has (thankfully) gone back to being silent. Technically, each version takes place in its own separate universe, I guess. Don't obsess about it.
This breakfast is sure taking a long long time. Does anybody know if anyone said anything?!?!?
ReplyDeleteThe shtty image quality should have given you guys a clue from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteFor all we know, makingstarwars is a front created by the powers that be themselves.
My friend Kristen works at dining services at Disney and she says it's not nearly as big of an event as people are making it out to be — BUT there is something going on and it has to do with a few of the new cast members meeting some of Disney's "higher up". She managed to find out one of the new cast members is a relatively unknown actor starting out named Dan Chilvers. Here's who he is. Doesn't seem like anyone significant to me: http://www.facebook.com/dan.chilvers.50?fref=ts&ref=br_tf
ReplyDeleteUmm how did you find the facebook profile of the particular 'Dan Chilvers' .. nice try ;)
DeleteI did a search for Dan Chilvers and there were 2 that came up on Facebook. I googled a bit and this guy is listed as being an extra in some movies the past few years. I dunno...maybe my friend that works at Disney is just messin' with me.
DeleteI doubt that this breakfast didn't happen, I just wonder why or what context the whole thing is as it all seems very odd and mysterious. makingstarwars.net claimed they have multiple sources and are close friends with one of them so I doubt the sources would all lie about it. Then they say they've heard lots of people talk about it but don't want to release their names because of privacy. and why would makingstarwars.net make this up themselves? A lot of these sites are flooded with rumours but only post the ones with confidence. They wouldn't damage their reputation because they just fancied lieing to their key audience would they. And in regards to the poor picture quality, my phone is far worse even with decent lighting conditions, so I don't know why that's some sort of big deal. If it's true that Lucas, high Disney execs, and original cast members were in attendance at the breakfast and at the event, plus with Lucasfilm having to deny it, and the press not being involved, then it's clear it's all hush-hush business. The question is what and why
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the wishes guys. I feel really great right now. The kid is already asleep and with a glass of cognac I'm reading your comments and waiting for something official. I'm not sure if we'll be getting anything today. Actually I'm starting to believe that we will be getting some news when we expect them the least. I received some more tips but they are about the upcoming Episode 7 toys and Lily Collins' involvement with the movies. I'll probably post that tomorrow.
ReplyDeletetell us!! :)
DeleteHappy birthday and thanks for keeping us up on all the latest Ep 7 news! :)
ReplyDelete♫ 6 Hours after the big breakfast, no announcements again. I bet the next announcement will be the script is almost done, casting is almost done, and then More Delays in filming. ♫
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the cognac Viral! Have a few of them on us just make sure you can still type up posts and updates and still be coherant ;) Happy B-day Viral!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, it would be a great day for an announcement
ReplyDeleteLongest breakfast ever...
ReplyDeleteApril Fool's is STILL April 1st, right??
ReplyDeleteHello JJ Abrams here.
ReplyDeleteI'm having such a blast with Star Wars 7. The Breakfast was quiet entertaining.
I love visiting this page on a daily basis and it's such a joy to read all those comments, people have like no idea.
It's such a blast.
You deserve a re-fill sir.
ReplyDeleteHave a good one.
Happy Birthday My Master
ReplyDeleteRise!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Viral Hide!!!
ReplyDeleteKaty Perry asked me to forward this to you...
http://youtu.be/CEUg7OplvIQ
So I guess nothing came of this breakfast??? Bummer :(
ReplyDelete-Anon 214
Wow an episode VII announcement is teased and it didnt happen! Never would have thought. This is new
ReplyDeleteStory is lame. Nothing but the Star Wars weekends being mentioned here.
ReplyDeleteMay 4 could be the day casting announcements arrive.
ReplyDeleteThen after May 4th it will be the SDCC, then what?
DeleteHow about a possible title announcement at SDCC. That might actually happen.
DeleteRemember back in early 14 when we wasted value tine and energy obsessing over breakfasts and AT-Walker Feet? It was so worth it right...
ReplyDelete♫ I knew there would be no news. Now wait for the SDCC, then there will be an announcement. The big news someone over heard Boba Fetts name in a conversation. ♫
ReplyDeleteThe Boba Fett rumors are pretty good news though. I for one am glad. It seems like they are actually trying to do their best on these projects, and not just throwing out movies left and right.
Delete♫ This Fett rumor started over a year ago. This isn't anything new. This was 3rd hand information over heard, yet no one knows who was even there. This is just more BS like every other time in the last year a Major Announcement is supposed to happen. ♫
DeleteSo boba fett is back to having his own film??... Contradicting everything Kathleen Kennedy said about original characters for spinoff films.
ReplyDeleteNow were back to where we are as far as our knowledge:
Nothing.
True. And I'm left feeling like Disney are treating Star Wars fans like red-headed stepchildren, next to the golden-boys of Marvel fandom.
DeleteAvengers fans got an early Avengers 2 teaser, cast announcement, subtitle, and now daily images from filming via Instagram. What have we been given so far? A big fat zero.
I don't see what the issue would be with Boba Fett being a hero of a film yet maintaining his menacing character. He's not really an "evil" character anyways, just morally ambiguous. He's an opportunist. If a show about a bounty hunter named Dog can be mildly successful in the U.S. than Boba has got this in the bag. I'm excited they are enthusiastic about his character. Can't wait for further news!
ReplyDeleteMake a Mandalorian movie isntead a Boba's. Would be great seeing the Mandalorian in a movie.
ReplyDeleteOnly if they stick with the EU warrior version and not the pussy-fied version from The Clone Wars.
DeleteTo borrow a theme from comedian Kat Williams, there are two types of fans in this world: Real Fans, and Btch Fans.
ReplyDeleteAllow me to elaborate.
A Real Fan anticipates but waits it out.
A Btch Fan logs into blogs seeking scraps of information before, during and after production.
Ar Real Fan saves all judgement until the film makers have done their job.
A Btch Fan constantly finds flaws and issues when what he learns doesn't meet his expectations.
A Real Fan shows up on opening day, puts down his cash, and watches his movie.
There's also a sexual parallel here, not that any of you Btch Fans would get it.
So then, you're a btch fan, because for 15 years you've moaned and complained about Jar jar and the 5 second scene on midichlorians.
DeleteI call a Btch Fan an E/U Fan.
DeleteSo a real fan should probably avoid this site then. When you see rumors and information you're bound to form some sort of opinion whether you admit it or not. Coming on this site and putting down others for voicing their opinions really just speaks to insecurity.
Deletemake him like Clint Eastwood in the good the bad and the ugly. He was somewhat modeled after Clint I thought I heard anyway. And he is sort of a morally grey hero-villian. I don't think it should be hard! only hard part would be making it kid friendly.
ReplyDeleteIf you want Fett to be a hero evil scary protagonist, he has to first earn it back because when last we saw him, he was screaming like a wimpy coward. He first must escape the sarclacc and look dominate and unaffected by doing it maybe he learns a life lesson so that he doesn't act so overconfident in the future. Then put him in a situation where in order to make a few bucks, he has to take down then entire Hutt crime syndicate and he does with only a few words. Also they could offset his tough quiet demeanor with a mouthy side kick or contagonist like Tuco the Ugly. My point is this should not be very hard to figure out.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they should be endorsing 'evil heroes'- don't like that whole trend, to be honest..
ReplyDeleteMe neither. Star Wars is an old-fashioned kind of style, with modern SFX. The heroes should always be the good guys and girls, and the bad guys largely squarely irredeemable. Boba Fett was designed to be a supporting character for the chief villains, and stripped of them, he's nothing more than a goon in a battlesuit. Fetishising him skews the moral compass to a grey and distasteful area. He's a bounty-hunter, certainly, but he's also a murderer and mercenary, and these sides of his character can't be whitewashed. The same reasons why I'd hate to see a Darth Vader film. Once villains become morally ambiguous, they are diminished and less iconic.
DeleteRay Fisher, one of the theater actors rumoured for ep 7 has been cast as cyborg in batman vs superman
ReplyDeleteWhy does everything always have to be black or white, good or evil? People aren't always as easy to define as that. Sometimes there is a grey area.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't always have to be black and white but it's the easiest story to tell and people easily connect to it. Using shades of gray is fine provided that extra care is taken. That's likely why we had the rumored conversations with the Disney execs wondering how they could position Fett as a "hero" while having him retain his mystique.
DeleteIf Disney thinks Fett is 'evil', then they don't understand the character at all. He is simply a gun for hire. He has no particular allegiance, beyond his current employment.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It'd be fairly easy to give him a 'protagonistic' feel as the primary character in a spinoff film, if they just focused on his being the most feard bounty hunter in the galaxy and the jobs he accomplished to earn that title.
DeleteI think the reason why they believe him to be menacing is because he's directly associated with the 'bad crowd' in Star Wars; Jabba's palace crew.
I wonder if they would keep his helmet on for the entire duration of any spin-off movie, as if the helmet somehow IS his established "face" (compare Vader's mask), or if they would bring in Temura whatshisname to play the unmasked Fett.
DeleteThe Wookie Pelts hanging on Fett are a dead give away that the character is evil
DeleteThat is stupid. Disney confirmed that characters from Star wars main movies will not have spin-off movies.
ReplyDeleteI really hate idea of Star Wars spin-off movies. That will destroy Star wars.
They should stick with Star Wars main movies.
I dont understand why its so hard for them to figure out how to make Boba a hero and keep him menacing....Freddy kreuger is a perfect example of the villian being the hero and those movies were written by retards. Maybe they should get in touch with Bob Shay...
ReplyDeleteBob Shaye, of Critters fame, yeah think Ewoks with fangs.
Delete
