Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn spoke at Variety's dealmaker breakfast and revealed several interesting Star Wars bits...

Here are the interesting tweets from Variety's Marc Graser:

Also some other bits that are already known but it's good to hear that the plan remains the same:
Lucasfilm will release a new “Star Wars” sequel or spin off every year, Horn said, starting with 2015′s “Star Wars: Episode VII.”
George Lucas, who Disney bought Lucasfilm from for $4 billion, remains on board as a consultant to the sci-fi franchise he created. “We are proceeding as the folks who own the company, but he’s George Lucas and I’m sure we’ll be in converastions with him” as new movies in the series are developed and produced, Horn said.
Still, Horn said movies must meet two requirements when greenlighting projects: “Do I  have to see it now and do I have to see it on the big screen? If the answer to both of those questions is no, then we have a big problem. My payhcheck has a moouse on it and I take it very seriously.”

  1. Exciting times ahead. Nice to hear the script is progressing well. I think 2016 was mentioned for Indy 5 so that fits in well with what Horn says.

  2. i dont like the idea of one star wars movie every year... for me, its decreases the quality of production.

    1. If it was the main story every year, I'd agree. But a spinoff like a Han solo orgin movie etc. I think will be cool. Now if they did a holiday special remake... that would be pure Hollywood gold!

    2. I don't think it will impact production quality, because the spin off films will most likely be produced by different production teams than those who work on the ST. I'm more worried about the people becoming sick of the franchise, than the franchise loosing quality.

  3. Lord Sidious returns!

  4. How cool would it be that the start of EP7 picks up exactly when Vader throws Sidious into the shaft. Except now we see the fall from Sidious's point of view. As Sidious is falling, we see Luke wake up as an old dude. We come to find that this dream has haunted Luke for 30 years. Hello, Sidious didn't die. It was his clone that was destroyed by Vader.

  5. I hope the writing team takes the time to distill their varied images and ideas into a story whose overall shape is simple instead of convoluted, a story that's purposfull instead of mellow dramatic.

  6. Has anyone wondered, a midst all the recent news, what the future of Star Wars Fan Films will be? Honestly I don't see any good fan films being produced anymore, besides Dark Resurrection. As an independent filmmaker stuck in commercial production hell (just can't afford to do free work) it traumatizes me how no serious effort is put into SW fan films anymore. Such potential and nothing to show for it by the indies.
