Update! Rumor: Has Star Wars: Episode 7 Found Its Thomas?

star wars

The Star Wars open auditions ended just a few weeks ago and it looks like they've already sifted through the huge amount of candidates. This is not confirmed but according to a post on Twitter someone has already got a third callback for the movie. Read more after the break...

Here's the actual tweet:

Later MakingStarWars asked about his name.

UPDATE! Looks like the guy's from the UK (the Bristol auditions).

If true getting a third callback is indeed a huge achievement. If you remember from the Bristol open auditions from the first 1000 candidates only 70 got a second callback. I guess only a few people will get a third callback. Actually if they indeed sent a part from the real script we could very well have our first human cast member - Thomas.

Take this with a huge grain of salt. Still with the lack of anything else it sounds interesting...

  1. I call BS. If this were accurate, the legal docs would come WAY before the script.

    1. Someone I heard in south FL said he did an open audition.. then was reviewed a script. Did he sign a NDA ? Second call? He hasn't said much after so no clue. Maesalu is the name.

  2. probably wouldn't send the script until the agreement not to disclose was signed

  3. This guy doesn't look like he knows much about the film series. Just looks like a guy looking for some publicity.

  4. Sounds cool. I hope cast is over with soon so we can get some sweet production details

  5. Another guy says he has got the script and legal documents: @GERMANYSHERO is his account i believe.

    1. Just read it.

If a numerous amount of people do this, it may be real.

However, if he reveals his part of the script before he signs...

    2. He is probably messing with us. There is not a single word in his previous tweets about a Star Wars audition. And conveniently only the last tweet is in English...

  6. I would think that Disney wouldn't want anything disclosed until they are good and ready to make an announcement .With the script apparently still unfinished and Christmas looming I think that they will wait until January.

  7. Unless the script that they have been given is another false one, just te be used for further auditioning purposes but the contracts are being signed now, so that they are already signed for any future people they take on? Either way I don't think these characters are cast yet, think it's just another stage of the auditions perhaps.

  8. I'm still kind of raising a quizzical eyebrow at the notion that they would be looking to grab people off of the street to play the leads in this.

I mean yes, it's traditional to go with unknowns or relative unknowns for the SW leads, and they did use Hollywood cattle calls to find candidates for Luke, Han and Leia.

But this whole process of going from city to city and all but advertising the auditions on Craigslist... am I the only one who feels like that's how you cast a cheap reality show, rather than a billion-dollar movie franchise?

This has all been seeming just a wee bit hinky to me all along. Do I just need to switch to a new brand of pipeweed, or has anyone else gotten the same impression about this?

    1. I agree, it does seem a little fishy, especially for Disney.

    2. Yeah, for Disney, for Lucasfilm... for pretty much everyone involved, really.

    3. I don't see the problem at all. How else are they going to do these auditions? Disney have hired casting directors, and they're scouting from location to location finding people with the right look, and then auditioning them. Just because this is a big film, doesn't mean casting needs to be done any differently. I just don't understand why people are being so skeptical. What are people expecting them to do? At the end of the day, they want to find someone who can fit the role. Star wars or not, casting is still casting, and one of the many the processes that they are doing to find people, is with open auditions, and this is the process of open auditions. I don't see what the 'problem' is, other than the simple fact that people and fans are finding the whole thing hard to believe in because it's such a big deal to them. I have to say, it's very amusing when people say this is all fake and just a marketing stunt. You honestly think they would spend all this time and money auditioning people just for a publicity stunt!? And yeah right, like star wars of all things needs publicity doesn't it.. And yeah, the film desperately needs the publicity over 2 years away from it's release.. I mean come on.

    4. Your kind of skipping a big part of the process. They did not go with open cattle calls until after they had auditioned everyone in Hollywood. For a history lesson. The Terminator 2 did they exact same thing for the casting of John Conner. They would up finding him in an arcade playing video games.

  9. Another open-ended question that probably won't be answered until Disney decides to actually speak... which can be next week or one year from now. sigh...

This is why I don't go to this website everyday anymore.

  10. Yet another question.

Who could this guy possibly play?

  11. So, WTF? Since they are moving the Ep 7 release date to December, does this mean the stand-alone films will also be released around Xmas time or the traditional, totally cool, and PROPER summer release date?

    1. This matters why??? Seriously curious.

    2. Every Star Wars film to date has had a summer release. It's tradition.

    3. Don't know about you but I'll sacrifice tradition for quality.

    4. Oh yes, I'm with you there 100%. I say give them all the time they need to make this movie worth the anticipation. It's excruciating, but I can wait. One of the many lessons I've learned from Star Wars over the years is that patience is a virtue.

  12. Don't think it's a real. Person in the acting group I have family in got a call back a couple weeks ago and was told not to expect to hear anything until January. We're in the Midwest. Don't know if that would matter for some reason.

  13. Should have said his call back is for a significant (not sure "leading") role and he would qualify as an unknown.

  14. I know for a fact that NDA's have to be signed before anything and there are no physical scripts, once signed then access is given to the scripts online, anthem they are viewable only, can't download or print. I know someone how has had a number of callbacks (5) for one of the roles not going to say if its for the male or female incase it jeopardises their chances (as I'm not supposed to know)

    1. I'm not sure if we can, that'd be a question for @Viral Hide. I just bring up the blog when I come into work everyday to stay updated. It'd be nice to get emailed updates, though, if it's possible.

  16. anyone who knows what happened to the open casting call for 40something military type??? many OT fans, who grew up with them are in that age & it would be so cool if a fan got the role (if he can act of course) Another cool idea for the film makers would be to use the 501st legion if there will be stormtroopers in the movies, because it seems like they are really listening to the fans this time, we already have a fanmade r2d2 :)

    1. That role was not included in the open auditions. Although, when I went to the Chicago auditions, there were lots of older dudes waiting in line to audition for that part with scripts and headshots in their hands. I believe they're looking for a professional actor for the 40-something-ear old military type. The open auditions were just for the younger male and female roles.

  17. Not a chance anyone has a single real line thats in the movie

Though this seems to be a script - there are many mistakes, would Disney send this of just like that? Been unable to find anything else about that guy apart from COD videos.. Seems very odd to me :) Someone's just trying to get noticed here don't you think?
