First some clarification.
There's an article on the web stating that the first spin-off movie released in 2016 will be about Han Solo. The article is a bit misleading and is written like they do know that. Actually they're just making assumptions based on several stories covered months ago. . The main source of this article appears to be this story from February:

More Rumors About Boba Fett And Han Solo Stand Alone Movies.

According to the article: "Disney CEO Bob Iger mentioned that the origin movies for both Han Solo and Boba Fett are being written by Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg."

Actually Iger never said that. His real words were:
“Nobody knows when these movies are even coming out. Right now, people are just kicking around ideas. Which is why you hear it’s Yoda one day and a young Han Solo another. It’s all in early development right now.” He also confirmed that Simon Kinberg and Lawrence Kasdan are going to handle the screenplays.

So still nothing is certain about these spin-off movies. I think there's a slight chance to see a Star Wars spin-off movie in 2016 although that was indeed Disney's initial plan. Especially after the delayed Episode 7 release date and the shift of duties of writer Lawrence Kasdan from the spin-off movies to Episode 7.

Dead Space developer working on the nextgen Star Wars game is hiring for a new IP.

From IGN:

Visceral Games appears to be hiring for a new IP. New job listings for environment artists (and an older one for a technical art director) explain, "This is a major opportunity to contribute creatively to an exciting new IP."

The Dead Space developer is known to be working on a next generation Star Wars game, perhaps in collaboration with EA Canada, but there have been few suggestions about additional projects until now. Earlier this year, EA's Frank Gibeau stated that Dead Space sequels were still possible. Electronic Arts also plans to make Star Wars games for the next 10 years, but it seems it won't be the only thing Visceral's working on.

Possible new Star Wars TV show headed to Netflix?

From Yahoo UK:

According to a source close to production, a new 'Star Wars' TV series is currently being considered… and it could head straight to Netflix.

"I've been hearing some talk that the 'Star Wars' license will move onto Netflix properties as well as 'Star Wars Rebels'. The idea being tossed around right now is a series focusing on Cad Bane from 'The Clone Wars'. But this is very early talks."

"I've heard that it's entirely on its own," they said. It's just the one series but a number of other shows focussing on different characters is a very big possibility. 'Star Wars' has a ton of peripheral characters that could carry a TV series rather than a stand-alone film."

Something else interesting about this rumor is that MakingStarWars have heard about that before.... but it was for a live action movie...

When I heard the rumor, it was explicitly stated in a follow up message that it was live action, probably evoking the Sergio Leone style.

I doubt there are many Star Wars fans who are indiffrent about the future of another George Lucas' franchise. It looks things are definitely in motion with the new Indiana Jones movie.

  1. I wonder what new games EA will be producing for Star Wars... I know DICE is developing the next Battlefront which will be nothing short of phenominal, I'm sure.
As far as th additional TV series are concerned, there are much better characters to base those around than Cad Bane. Don't get me wrong, from what I've seen he's an awesome character, but think of all of the other incredible possibilities for spin-off series. Rather than centering one around Cad Bane, why don't they just make one about bounty hunters in general, or even a KOTOR series would be awesome? Maybe even based around Dash Rendar and his adventures. The possibilities are endless.

    1. I'm also curious to know what the spin-off films will be like. It'll be a whole new realm for the Star Wars theater experience. Not like the Clone Wars theatrical release; that was for the younger demographic of fans. These spin offs will be of another nature.

    2. The bounty hunter storylines in Clone Wars were the ones I most consistently enjoyed, but I'm not sure why they would want to do an entire series based on Cad Bane. Interesting creature/costume design from a visual standpoint, but I can't see there being enough meat there character-wise to carry a series.

IMHO, if they want to do a bounty hunter series, they're much better off coming up with an entirely new character as the focal point - preferably a human character if it's to be live action, if for no other reason than it's hard to get much in the way of "acting" from somebody in a rubber mask, and I can't see them spending the kind of money on a CGI character with the range of facial emotion of Gollum, for instance.

    3. I think a TV series about the relationships between all of the infamous bounty hunters we already know and their competition in the business would be pretty cool. Although, I have nothing against a brand new character. Maybe they'll just do both. It's too early to make assumptions.

  2. I'm glad Frank Marshall is involved in the new Indy. His initial concept for Indy 4 was actually pretty good, until Lucas made some stupid changes. However, it's hard to imagine Disney not wanting to reboot the franchise at this stage. Ford is simply getting too long in the tooth for the role.

    1. I can't believe they're even making an attempt at another Indy movie. I'm almost certain it will be garbage, but it's obviously too early to tell. Crystal Skull sucked monkey nuts and if they try to make Shia Labeouf the new Indy and continue the series with him, I'll strangle those bastards. I'm sure lots of fans are with me on that.

    2. Personally, i'm not an Indy fan. I love star wars because the story, the world, the characters are just so interesting to me. But the Indy storylines, characters, and everything never really grabbed me at all, I thought it relied too much on visuals, there's so much action, and action films aren't really my sort of thing unless I like the actual plot, which I never did for Indy. But I admit it's great direction by Spielberg, and it's got John Williams who is incredible as usual. But Crystal Skull really did make me want to boil my own head it was just shocking.

    3. I think it's a dead cert that Harrison Ford will be in Indy 5. From what they say this was the only way Disney/Lucasfilm could get him to agree to do Episode 7. Personally I can take it or leave it as far as Indy 5 is concerned. If this was the only obstacle for him doing Ep 7 then that alone is good news.

    4. He'll definitley be in the new Indy movie, but the guy won't be able to play the character for long. I just hope they don't do something really stupid like passing the role of supreme, archiological, womanizing, "obtainer of rare antiquities" badass over to Shia. I really didn't like him in an Indy movie to begin with, but making him Indy's son was one of the worst things they could've done with the plot. Almost worse than interdimensional aliens.

    5. I think the only way Shia gets in Indy V is over Harrison Ford's dead body. I'm pretty sure he talked bad about Indy IV, which is a no-no in Harrison's book despite how badly one of your movies turns out.

    6. "I think the only way Shia gets in Indy V is over Harrison Ford's dead body."
Boy, that'd be awesome. What a guy, that Harrison Ford!

    7. I didn't read these post and I am glad I did now to know I am not the only one who dislike Shia! Yay! LOL

    8. Most people who saw Crystal Skull disliked it because of his role. He just didn't fit at all.

  3. I'm all for Indy 5, I was not a huge fan of Skull BUT still enjoy it and can't get enough of Harrison Ford as Indy, much like I could never have enough Han Solo.

I hope Han gets the first spinoff movie. I want to see how he and Chewie meet, make the Kessel run, the origins of the relationship with Lando, smuggling for Jabba and it goes on and on. So much story already laid down and so many plot lines you could probably have a couple movies on Solo and then slide those into Bounty Hunter spin-offs... it just keeps going and going. So many amazing possibilities

    1. Let's not forget all of the awesome possibilities a Boba Fett movie holds, but either way, if Kasdan and Kinberg are in charge of writing the spinoffs, I have no doubt they'll be fantastic.

  4. I look forward to Indy 5 with Harrison! Just don't being back that Shia Whatever prick! Replace him with Zac Efron or whoever. I did enjoyed the Crystal Skull because it reminded me a LOT of those old Saturday Matinee movies. I have to admit I am no fan of the ending and again, of Shia!

As for Dead Space creators handling SW games, this is great news! I am not into horror based games but I seen Dead Space 2 or is it 3 and I have to say the costume/armour and weapon designs are phenomenal! SW needed up to date crack team or designers for the movies, tv shows and games.

If they were to make a spinoff Han movie. I doubt they will go with Harrison on this one. If they use him, I would be overjoyed! But I can see this being at least a trilogy so, I am more than sure they will go with a younger Han.

What we need are more cool Bounty Hunters. Cad Bane is cool! That girl in the TOR trailers is cool, so is that cowboy in the last of the TOR trailers is cool! They should so let those designers into all new SW projects.

    1. You'd really rather have Zach Efron in an Indy movie? C'mon, man...

The spinoff movies will certainly not star Harrison Ford, seeing as the plan for the Han Solo Origin movie is about the Origin of the character, meaning they'll need someone much younger to play the role of Han. Also, I'm almost certain that this movie will be a stand-alone, and will be part of a Star Wars: Origins kind of series of films. It will not be a trilogy of its' own.

    2. I am no fan of Shia, so even Zac is better! Hack, if I were in the casting department for the last movie. I be calling Justin Long for the part!

Anyway, it would be interesting to see who they gonna cast as young Han Solo. But as the recent CFO said, SW is following Marvel. The individual super heroes got their own movies, Iron Man, Thor and Capt. America and each likely to see a part 3 or 4 and beyond as we got IM3 already. Still, we will leave them at the able hands at Disney. Honestly, what I want? Are KOTOR movies!

    3. That is a completely different realm. Just because they compare the Marvel and Star Wars franchises doesn't mean their business plans will reflect each other by every detail. Marvel heroes get several of their own movies because they have pre-created stories about them in hundreds of comic book series. The Star Wars franchise focuses on the story as a grand scheme. Either way, if they were planning on making the Solo movie a trilogy at this point in it's pre production, we'd already have heard something when that announcement was revealed about the Solo and Fett movies. What we do know is that they're planning on having several origin films based on lots of different fan-favorite characters. I really don't think they'll be making trilogies for all of the spin offs. They'll focus more on the actual episodes.

    4. The only way you would see Harrison in the spin off would be him looking back of his origins as a flashback... which would consists of about 2/3rds of the movie.. those origin events would have a bearing on the current events Han is currently dealing with.... who knows...
but I doubt this would be the case

  5. I would be most intrigued by a spin of movie with Yoda in the younger days well before EP1.

  6. Didn't expect much from this week's Wednesday tease, but hopefully next week (exactly two years before E7's scheduled release date) we'll get some kind of announcement; confirmation of the big three, casting, small plot details or whatever. I just want something real!

  7. There's plenty of story in the Han Solo Trilogy by the late A.C. Crispin that could be molded into Han Solo prequels. You have Han's rough childhood for starters, skip ahead like movies do and you have Slave/Spice Worlds, a new different female lead in Bria Tharen, lots of smuggling, lots of Hutts including a young Jabba, lots of Boba Fett and Imperials in charge which fans both dearly love, Han, Chewie, and Lando's beginnings, Han winning the Falcon, the Kessel Run, the Rebels early days, and the big question who would play a young Han Solo? If there is going to be Han Solo prequels that's the big deciding factor to it being awesome, in my opinion. The graphics, story, and characters are all there waiting to be filmed. But who could pull off being a young Han Solo? That's a very tall order and I'm not sure it can be done with success.

    1. All of that is plenty of material for one great Han Solo spinoff, but there is enough of it to make more than just one. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens, but I agree that recreating solo with another actor would be very difficult. We've been shown before, by the Adventures of Young Indiana Jones series, that Harrison Ford's acting skill is not easily replicated. That's why that series was awful.

    1. Daaaaamn @Jergus Spodniak! Good call. I've never seen a movie he's starred in, but he looks almost exactly like a young Solo. I'll have to check out his skills in acting to decide for myself whether or not he's worthy of filling Ford's shoes ;)

    2. So, he's a "Disney channel original movie" actor... I guess it could work... Either way, he's a spitting image of a young Solo!

  9. I'm very worried about the possibility of a Boba Fett movie... I'm a huge bounty hunter fan... currently reading the bounty hunter trilogy. Boba Fett is my favorite character, and I'd be devastated if they re-wrote his story :(

    1. Even if it was written by Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg???
I'm also a huge fan of the bounty hunters, especially Fett. Ever since I was a kid, even after reading the comics and Bounty Hunter trilogy, I've wanted to see Boba get his own movie. Now that it's actually in the foreseeable future, I can't express my excitement enough. With Kinberg and Kasdan writing the screenplay, you just can't go wrong.
