UPDATE! Super Bowl: Disney Seeking Last-Minute Ad Buy.

star wars

10 days ago THR revealed that Disney after committing to a Super Bowl ad in the fall is said to be shopping for additional spots. Just a few hours before the event what this spot could be about?

From THR:
Less than two weeks before the matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, Disney -- after committing to a Super Bowl ad in the fall -- is said to be shopping for additional spots, possibly taking two or three spaces as other advertisers drop out. As a last-minute shopper, the studio faces prices approaching $4.4 million, sources tell THR.
Hollywood studios consider Super Bowl ads trade secrets, so nobody is talking about their plans. But sources say Disney spots likely will promote the Aaron Paul actioner Need for Speed (opening March 14 from DreamWorks), as well as Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4) and/or Guardians of the Galaxy (Aug. 1).

After this story was posted, Guardians of the Galaxy director posted on Twitter that there won't be a GOTG spot during The Big Game:

So the studio has already secured commercial time for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Need for Speed. The third spot remains a mystery. What could it be about? Knowing J.J. Abrams and his previous projects it makes you wonder, is it possible to see something Star Wars related? With the script finished just a few weeks ago, it's highly unlikely, but still this is J.J. and you never know. Remember Super 8?

I surely don't want to get your hopes high (especially after the Wednesday Tease fiasco) but you never know with Abrams. So just enjoy the game and don't rise your expectations. After all you don't make a last minute buy for something like this, but still if we get something, it'll be a bonus. :)

UPDATE!

Or maybe it's just about this :)

Or this:

Still let's enjoy this one instead:

Sorry for the off-topic. Couldn't resist. :)

  2. You'd be surprised how happy I'd be with nothing but the theme song and a title. Hell even a montage of the older films ending with the new title coming in 2015 would be epic.

  3. I'd be happy with a shot of a crazed JJ Abrams hopping on one foot saying "Meesa know something YOU don't know! Na na na na na NA!!!!!!"

  4. As happended in The Return in the Jedi .... JJ has been lying all of us. The doomstar is ready and in perfectly functional ... so 3rd is SW:EP7 teaser :p

  5. This is the stupidest Episode VII theory I've heard yet. Knowing JJ and how he enjoys dissing fans, we probably won't see a Star Wars spot at NEXT YEAR's Super Bowl.

    1. I wouldn't call that a theory. I just pointed out a simple fact. I'm sure I'm not the first guy who thought about that.

    2. Well, the only thing that they COULD make considering how far they are along is like a big VII in times new roman scroll across the screen with the release date.

  6. Everybody.... Get over it already.... the title won't be released for at least next year... Spring or Summer.... from knowing how the previous films were released, those titles were not released until at least 6-9 months prior to those films release date.. so as the phrase goes, patience is a virtue!!

  7. With Disney's stock holders meeting on the 5th who knows... wouldn't say something Star Wars is impossible.

  8. Two years. Would you tease people two years before what you are making is done? They're saving it for the run-up to release.

    1. You never know. J.J. Abrams released the first teaser for Star Trek (2009) a year and a half before the movie.

  11. Regarding the Transformers clip above, isn't funny how Shia LaBeouf is suddenly just disregarded not just in the upcoming Transformers but you no longer read about him taking over the Indiana Jones franchise (thank god!). Or, at least I hope they are no longer considering him for Indy 5.
Yes, I know, not Star Wars related but the Transformers clip was included here as off-topic :)
