Mark Hamill is Also in London!

Peter Serafinowicz aka the voice of Darth Maul from Star Wars: Episode I posted a curious image with him and Mark Hamill from London. Was that meeting a coincidence?

So we have Mark Hamill with a beard ala Obi-Wan and Harrison Ford with a Han Solo hair cut. And filming is starting in mid May. What if they're all there earlier because of May the 4th?

And don't forget that there's a Disney earnings call on May 6th. You can't just ignore all that. An official announcement is probably coming in the next 8 days!

    2. This will be great.. Too bad Lucasfilm won't confirm this till July or August. Or even later.

  4. I have to say he seems to be in great shape in this picture. Definitely lost a lot of weight. I was afraid people wouldn't be able to recognize him after so many years but now all my fears have gone away :)

  6. Looks like he has started growing a beard to come back as an old jedi master Luke..

  7. Random Thought:

What if sometime between Episode VI and VII, Luke falls to the Dark Side, and will be a Sith Lord in Episode VII.

    1. PLEASE GOD NO. We already did that with vader anyway. If they churn out another powerful-jedi-turns-dark-side-and-needs-redemption storyline I will rip my head off.

    2. You're right in that it's already been done with Vader, so it would be a bit anti-climactic.

But then again, Lucas has been known to like "symmetry" in his trilogies.

    3. I just want the villain to be a good ol' fashion villain for once. I don't see why everyone's started this thing where we should empathize with the villains and blah blah blah. Why not create this horrible fucking bastard who is pure evil and does horrible shit so we can actually root for the heroes to win?? It's not rocket science.

      Delete
    4. ^You do realize that this "horrible... pure evil" villian you speak of is not Darth Vader, right? Because Vader became good in the end.

Personally, I'm tired of these black and white hero/villian storylines. There is no pure evil and no pure good.

    6. You do realize that this "horrible... pure evil" villian you speak of is not Darth Vader, right?
      ...
um yeeeees didn't you read my point? Modern villains are weak compared to good ol' fashioned evil villains. Sure, darth vader is one example. What's your point?
"Personally, I'm tired of these black and white hero/villian storylines."
One of the things that made star wars so great was that it was a simple story between good and evil. Darth Vader was redeemed but he wasn't the villain. If vader had died in the original star wars then the empire would have carried on. The main villain was the emperor, who, as I say, was just pure evil and hatred.

    8. My thought was that Luke's son, at some point (end of Ep. VII/Ep. VIII perhaps) turns to the dark side. Jesse Plemons has just that sort of face. Perhaps he did not get enough attention, Luke attending to his studies/teaching. He goes bad, kills Han. Twins retaliate in some Jedi fashion.

      Delete
    9. This would be different yet symmetrical. The son, rather than the father, having gone bad. Look, there has to be a bad guy somewhere. It might as well, and possibly be better, if it were someone we know or is related to someone we know.

      Delete
    10. Luke made it abundantly clear that his will is much stronger than that of his father Anakin. He would not use his anger or hatred to strike down Vader in battle, so what more would convince him to turn to the dark side? Either way, why would they have an enormous plot point like that be an event taking place between episodes? Do you realize how much confusion that would cause for audiences? I'm hoping the primary antagonist is someone other than a Skywalker.

  10. You can't blame people for being skeptical about the Big 3 returning. Admit it, Disney and Lucasfilm have not given us jack shit about it being official. We're all going off George's comment from 2 years ago.

Do I want them back? You're damn right I do. Am I upset that the powers that be have said not a word? Yep.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Well im gonna go ahead and blame you for being skeptical. GEORGE LUCAS said (1 year ago) that they were back. As well as all the evidence in the recent weeks. There's no reason to be skeptical whatsoever. Disney just enjoys jerking us around because we're all gonna buy a ticket on dec 18 regardless of anything

      Delete
    2. I agree, I don't think there's a reason to be skeptical. I would go as far to say that jerking around is relative, as the film's release is still a year and 8 months away. I'm actually worried about not getting any news after the cast is announced... what will we have to nerd over? As exciting as May the 4th will be, seeing a vague bad robot tweet every 2 months is what I'm expecting... haha.

    3. I just want them to say, Lucasfilm that is, The Big 3 are signed for Episode 7 and the first official day of shooting is... fill in the blank.

    2. I totally agree. That is the look of confidence and Mark is back, you can definitely see it in his eyes! It's just to awesome for words! Jedi Master Skywalker ... just how awesome is that going to be!? I can't wait for all the cheering, applause, etc when the Big 3 hit the big screen again in theaters, going to be soooo fun! :)

    3. In ROTJ, the audience burst into applause when Darth Vader made his first entrance. Same thing will happen for Luke Skywalker in EP 7.

    1. He's got a couple weeks and make-up can darken it like they do for many other actors. Mark is looking great, very healthy and vibrant. So excited for this.

    2. Yeah I think Obi Wan Skywalker will look pretty cool, a few weeks can do wonders for a beard.

    3. The real trick for the old-ben beard was short at the sides but long at the chin.

Mark's very thin at the chin which doesn't really pull off the whole wisdom thing. hm I don't know why I'm talking about beards.

  16. Mark Hamill spotted in London. Harrison Ford spotted in London. Coincidence? Obviously not.

And you, skeptics, how many times must some Jedi Master say "trust your instincts" onscreen for you to do just that? Like Yoda and Obi-Wan would say, you still have much to learn…

  17. Luke Skywalker with Darth Maul in London...what are the odds that this meeting is coincidental or non-Star Wars related? Never tell me the odds :)

  18. I imagine he'll be in ep 7 8 and 9. If he dies he'll be back as a ghost. Hopefully he whips out that green lightsaber of his one last time before passing on the legacy like old-ben did :) If he randomly gets shot or dies of old age or something I will be pissssed.

    1. At the end of ROTJ where he should remain

    2. God question. Where is Lando? That all depends on where his character is in the Star Wars galaxy during Episode VII.

I hope he's in it, but if he's off doing something unrelated to the gang, it makes sense for him not to make an appearance.

      Delete
    3. Lando will be at StarFest in Denver this weekend. Already have my ticket for a picture with him, so I hope he doesn't back out at the last minute. http://starfestdenver.com/

    4. If the rebellion vs empire story is over, then Lando's story is over. If it's still the rebels vs empire than I could maybe see him come back as a general or something. They can't cross the line and bring everyone back though else it would overshadow the new, and also if Luke Han Leia, R2 and 3PO are back, we really do not need to tell Lando's story too.

      Delete
    5. I disagree.

If Han, Luke, and Leia are all still hanging out with each other, or at least in communication, then there's no reason that Lando would be left out of the loop.

When we look at wars on Earth like the American Revolution, we see that those who fought a revolution, or rebellion, end up being the ones who establish the new order. Certainly they would have had some kind of continued relationship in this regard.

Not having him back wouldn't make much sense to me in my opinion.

  24. I- "How important is it for you in preserving the legacy of the franchise, to have some of the familiar faces, the core cast back, and to continue their story as well?"
JJ Abrams - "Well i know that we're going to be announcing things pretty soon in terms of cast, so when that happens I look forward to talking about it."

Does anybody still want to tell me that Mark Carrie and Harrison aren't back?.. I offer now is the chance to tell me.

  29. Disney, what a disservice you've done to these actors by not announcing their casting before it all unceremoniously leaked out. They deserve more.

Lando: I'm OK saving him for Episode VIII. There will be too much to fit into VII as is. I expect Marvel to do a pre-Episode VII mini-series that will either have Lando in it and will explain where he'll be or at least reference him.

  30. I find it ironic that Carrie Fisher -- who has been the only one to CONFIRM the Big 3 will be back -- is NOT in London right now according to her Tweet. I hope that doesn't mean anything (IE a recast as has been rumored before.)

Also, I don't believe in coincidences so Mark and Harrison in London just as Episode 7 is about to begin Principal Photogrpahy is a absolute confirmation.

Lastly, Harrison had a beard about 2 weeks ago according to his Reddit. The last time we saw Mark he was clean shaven. Now, Mark has his Oni-wan beard and Harry is clean shaven a la General Han Solo -- LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

    1. ..um Carrie's clearly being sarcastic in her tweet haha. Why would her dog be in London without her? lol. JediNews are reporting that she has been spotted, and now Carrie's tweet basically confirms it.

  31. Good to see that Mark is in shape -- and this is even before makeup! We will have no problem recognizing Jedi Master Skywalker when he hits the big screen next year.

Despite certain flaws, the Star Wars saga is a really special media phenomenon, spanning decades and generations both internally and externally. In the future, you can watch Return of the Jedi and then progress to Episode VII, and ta da, everyone is 30 years older -- not by means of special make-up effects (a la Back to the Future) or recasting (as when young/old Obi Wan necessarily had to be portrayed by different people). No, here the original actors have aged and matured quite naturally.

It is great that the old plan of a "trilogy of trilogies" will indeed come to fruition, especially since Return of the Jedi was not quite strong enough to stand as the final entry in such an ambitious series.

The challenge will be to find a plot that can stand as a natural continuation of the original six episodes, and not some kind of tacked-on afterthought. Perhaps the Dark Side of the Force is itself the ultimate enemy; Palpatine and his Empire was just a manifestation of it.

    1. Or perhaps 'balance of the force' means a balance between light and dark. There should be a balance of the two ideologies. That's what I'd like to see, anyway.
