UPDATE! Star Wars: Episode 7 Disney Executive Event on Thursday?

star wars

The cool guys from MakingStarWars.net made a very interesting discovery. According to them there might be a large Star Wars: Episode 7 announcement next week...

(April 20, 2014)
Here is what they learnt:
  • Disney will host a Star Wars executive breakfast this Thursday, April 24th.
  • George Lucas will be in attendance.
  • Classic cast members will be in attendance (we have no names).
  • The VIP event will be for about 100 people.
  • The menu will  be Star Wars themed (edible characters, Yoda was mentioned).
  • Only top executives from Disney are attending.

This can't be just an ordinary breakfast with so many VIPs. Maybe casting is finally done and they will celebrate the next stage of the production process. I really hope for a big announcement on that day. The best thing is that my birthday is on that day - April 24. :)

By the way do you guys remember what George Lucas said back in March 2013 about the return of The Big Three?
"I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them. I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”
So could this be that event?

UPDATE!

(April 22, 2014)
Now according to TFN "a Lucasfilm spokesperson has categorically denied that this event is taking place."

Here's their interpretation:

The MakingStarWars.net post includes images of the Star Wars-themed menu, which features items such as "Anchorhead Appetizer: Greek Yogurt Parfait." If I were to guess, I would say that this is just the menu for the Star Wars Weekends Character Dining experience mentioned on Disney's website. The site mentions a "Star Wars Dine-In Galactic Breakfast! at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant" from May 4 to June 15. That roughly syncs with the MakingStarWars.net report; their source claims that the meal will start "May 4th, and be used for 54 consecutive days afterward." May 4 to June 15 is only 42 days, not 54, but this seems likely the most likely explanation for the mix-up.

And MakingStarWars' comment:
I’m not going to pull a “well, they would say that” or anything. But we have three different sources saying that’s the case. One source provided us with the menu images and my staff knows the sources personally so this isn’t the kind of situation where they’re pulling one over on us. So is it happening or not? I can’t say. If Lucasfilm says it isn’t true, I have to assume it isn’t and there’s some kind of misunderstanding here. But I have to be honest, it doesn’t make sense. We are being told the event is happening and Lucas will be there.

As always things are much more complicate than it seems. Whatever the case an announcement will be made before the official start of filming in mid May. So there must be something in the next 3 weeks.

    1. ..are you kidding? It's huge. Some announcements are just put up on the website. This would have pictures, videos, quotes. What more do you want?

    2. I suspect the reason it's a breakfast is because there will be some sort of press conference with prolific media coverage, and breakfast in California is mid-afternoon in Europe... widest reach, essentially.

At least that's what I'm hoping!

  4. They may do the announcement to Disney executives and automatically publish the information in the official website. That could be an option.

    3. Incidentally, Anthony Ingruber has stated on his fb that he is likely to make his 'huge announcement' this coming week about his new film role which coincides with the Disney thing. Remember he is linked to Disney, perfectly fits the bill as a complete unknown and would make a great son of Solo judging from his brilliant and uncanny impersonations of Harrison Ford. If he's got the acting chops he'd be a great addition to the new generation of Star Wars, IMHO.

    3. I don't think Efron gets in this franchise. His recent drug problems are well documented and he's still got High School Musical written all over him. They are not going to entrust the world's biggest franchise to a recovering addict.

  7. As one of the Anonymi above mentioned, it would seem, after having sat on every last bit of casting informaton for all this time, that Disney would go a wee bit bigger and broader with the eventual announcement than to just do it at a VIP event for a hundred people.

However, it would also seem that if they were going to do it as a huge televised extravaganza, the program would have been scheduled and announced by now.

I'd give it about a 50-50 chance that we'll get The Big Announcement on Thursday.

However, I'd say we'll probably learn at least SOME new info through that event.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Surely if "Classic cast members will be in attendance" is true then it's a dead certain this will be the announcement. Makes sense. I've always thought they were waiting till Carrie and Mark were in great shape then get the gang at some event to wow everyone. Pictures and everything would spread like wildfire over the internet. They don't need to do a big-whoop-de-doo. They just need to get them together and the big whoop-de-doo would happen via our reaction. Not sure what people were expecting. Did you want them to jump out of a helicopter with star wars parachutes and their names on it?

    1. haha you crop up on every single article sprouting this nonsense about false hopes. It's very entertaining I must say.

      Delete
    2. lol ... not every article, but pretty close. I just can't believe that many fans just isnt picking up on this like some are. I understand many go by with only what Lucas said, but how quick they forget that Lucas has had to improvise on things before because of changes he made before. to have his last trilogy made, he has to have a plot for it. In The Phantom menace he introduced the character Jedi prophet of a chosen one who would destroy the sith and bring balance to the force. Wouldnt you agree that the last trilogy would have the chosen one in it ?

      Delete
    3. But the chosen one's story has been told. Anakin has brought balance back to the force. This new trilogy is set up 35 years after, so presumably the force will become unbalanced again. Just because the force has become balanced and Anakin has destroyed the sith doesn't mean it's impossible for people to turn to the dark side in the future.

Please pay attention. Don't just dismiss it because George has changed his mind on things in the past. That doesn't matter. He has not changed his mind as he clearly states he was the chosen one. If he had written the films and said he wasn't the chosen one, he would have said. It wouldn't make sense anyway. As there is a prophecy that someone would destroy the sith. Well who did that? Anakin. You don't even need George to answer this for you.

    4. Dandino. It reassures me that you are such a huge Star Wars fan. I also feel reassured that you seem to know about 3 fi that have not been released yet and none of us know what is going to happen in the slightest.. And as you're such a big Star Wars fan you must know that George Lucas will change his mind at the drop of a hat. So how can you be so sure that Anakin really is the chosen one? Up until December 18 he very may will be but we don't know what will transpire in the sequel trilogy. At this moment I do believe that he is the chosen one but if it turns out to be wrong them I'm prepared to go with the flow. I kind of hope that we all get a chance to tell you that we told you so. And if It turns out that I'm wrong I'll apologise.

      Delete
    5. I personally hope they never return to the concept of "the chosen one" for the new trilogy storyline. The idea of the chosen one was invented for the prequels and has never been that big of a deal imo. Qui-Gon discovered this boy who was possibly the strongest being in the force alive and perhaps ever. Boy grows up, gets married to his childhood crush and becomes an extremely skilled but arrogant Jedi. Boy is deceived and makes the worst decision in his life to become the villain we all love to hate from the OT. The prophecy of the chosen one imo was just a plot device to emphasize the importance of Anakin's character and make it all the more heartbreaking when he makes his inevitable turn to the darkside. Hope was lost. Therefore, we have "A New Hope" about 20 yrs later in his son. Anakin did destroy the rule of the sith by killing Palpatine and perhaps had more potential in the force than anyone else. Was he the "chosen one"? I would say, for intents and purposes, yes, he was. But perhaps the prophecy was never fulfilled exactly the way it was supposed to be. Maybe it was. Maybe it was misread (as Yoda points out as a possibility in ROTS). Either way, the OT makes no mention of this "chosen one" concept. Why? Because from 1977-1999, it didn't exist. It was a clever plot device created by GL to achieve his purposes in bringing about the end of hope and the beginning of a new one with the original SW. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the prequel trilogy, but I adore the original trilogy. I hope they stick to a more mysterious approach to the story, especially when it comes to the force, prophecies, etc. Don't explain everything, just enjoy the mystery of it all as we discover the new era of SW through the eyes of the new characters. Was Anakin the chosen one? Luke? Who cares. It's a new era.

    3. ANAKIN: You wanted to see me, Chancellor.
PALPATINE: Yes, Anakin! Come closer. I have good news. Our Clone Intelligence Units have discovered the location of General Grievous. He is hiding in the Utapau system.
ANAKIN: At last, we'll be able to capture that monster and end this war.
PALPATINE: I would worry about the collective wisdom of the Council if they didn't select you for this assignment. You are the best choice by far … but, they can't always be trusted to do the right thing.
      ANAKIN: They try.
PALPATINE: Sit down, (to his aides) Leave us.
ANAKIN sits next to PALPATINE. The Chancellor leans over to him.
PALPATINE: (continuing) Anakin, you know I'm not able to rely on the Jedi Council. If they haven't included you in their plot, they soon will.
ANAKIN: I'm not sure I understand.
PALPATINE: You must sense what I have come to suspect . . . the Jedi Council want control of the Republic . . . they're planning to betray me.
      ANAKIN: I don't think . . .
PALPATINE: Anakin, search your feelings. You know, don't you?
      ANAKIN: I know they don't trust you . . .
PALPATINE: Or the Senate . . . or the Republic . . . or democracy for that matter.
ANAKIN: I have to admit my trust in them has been shaken.
PALPATINE: Why? They asked you to do something that made you feel dishonest, didn't they?
ANAKIN doesn't say anything. He simply looks down.
PALPATINE: (continuing) They asked you to spy on me, didn't they?
      ANAKIN: I don't know ... I don't know what to say.
PALPATINE: Remember back to your early teachings. Anakin. "All those who gain power are afraid to lose it." Even the Jedi.
ANAKIN: The Jedi use their power for good.
PALPATINE: Good is a point of view, Anakin. And the Jedi point of view is not the only valid one. The Dark Lords of the Sith believe in security and justice also, yet they are considered by the Jedi to be. . .
      ANAKIN: . . . evil.
PALPATINE: . . . from a Jedi's point of view. The Sith and the Jedi are similar in almost every way, including their quest for greater power. The difference between the two is the Sith are not afraid of the dark side of the Force. That is why they are more powerful.
ANAKIN: The Sith rely on their passion for their strength. They think inward, only about themselves.
      PALPATINE: And the Jedi don't?
ANAKIN: The Jedi are selfless . . . they only care about others.
      PALPATINE smiles.
PALPATINE: Or so you've been trained to believe. Why is it, then, that they have asked you to do something you feel is wrong?
ANAKIN: I'm not sure it's wrong.
PALPATINE: Have they asked you to betray the Jedi code? The Constitution? A friendship? Your own values? Think. Consider their motives. Keep your mind clear of assumptions. The fear of losing power is a weakness of both the Jedi and the Sith.
      ANAKIN is deep in thought.
PALPATINE: (continuing) Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis "the wise"?
      ANAKIN: No.
PALPATINE: I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life ... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.
ANAKIN: He could actually save people from death?
PALPATINE: The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
      ANAKIN: What happened to him?
PALPATINE: He became so powerful . . . the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. (smiles) Plagueis never saw it coming. It's ironic he could save others from death, but not himself.
ANAKIN: Is it possible to learn this power?
      PALPATINE: Not from a Jedi.

Alright so exactly which lines tell us that Anakin wasn't the chosen one. I'd love to know.

    3. You can make that arguement for Luke being the chosen one because the prophecy says a child would be born into a time of what ? .. Bingo.... Anakin wasnt born in a time of lost hope, etc..... The empire wasnt even formed yet when Anakin was born. And because of Lukes great heart, when vader chose to kill Sidious, Luke destroyed vader who destroyed the sith emporor as Luke starting the domino effect..... Ya, we can do both ways too on that debate....

      Delete
    4. Wow, I literally give up on this stupid argument. I mean seriously? "Dark hope"? You're literally just making up things now. You keep saying that there are scenes in revenge of the sith that mean he is the chosen one. You are wrong. All you need to watch is Return of the jedi. Who destroys the sith? Answer me this one question, who destorys the sith? Seriously, just answer the question. Who destroyed palpatine? ANAKIN. You keep coming up with rubbish about how we can't trust what George says or whatever, but why? Why not? Because he changes his mind on things? Well so what? Everybody can change their mind about things can't they. I mean George Lucas can potentially change his mind on the accent of c3po, but as it currently stands, his accent is british as we can observe C3PO having a british accent. Therefore It's fact. There's nothing to argue against it. Like as it currently stands, Anakin is the chosen one. We know this as in return of the jedi, he destroyed the sith. So therefore it is proof and there's nothing to argue against it. Either you accept what is fact or you don't- and if you don't, then there's really no point in arguing against you anymore. It's like debating if cat's have two eyes or three... It's two. The answer is two. It just is. There's literally nothing up for debate here.

    7. "Why don't you give an answer on why we will see the sith planet in episode 7 ?"
Who said the sith planet would be in epiosde 7? Your whole argument is based on your opinion and assumptions. But alright lets say the sith planet is indeed in episode 7, that would mean that a Jedi that Luke trained has turned to the dark side, then they would obviously go to the sith planet to train sith. This has absolutely nothing to do with Anakin being the chosen one to destory palpatine and bring balance back to the force. Anakin destroyed sidious and destroyed all the sith and fullfilled that prohpecy. If sidious was secretely training sith and therefore they change Anakin being the one to destroy all the sith, then this will be completely new and introduced. Your argument about anakin not being the chosen one because of some scenes in revenge of the sith that you are misinterpreting is completely stupid.

      Delete
    8. The prophecy was fulfilled once Anakin and Palpatine died at the end of VI. The Sith was destroyed, both master and apprentice. The Force was balanced. I think some people are confused as to what is meant by the balancing of the force. What it DOESN'T mean is that all evil will be gone forever and good guys win and start dancing and singing for all eternity. NO, the Force means that the Dark and Light sides are equal. If the Jedi Order multiplies and prospers in VII, then one would expect the Dark side to also thrive. Some people are reading too much into this. It is a lot simpler than you think.

The Force is very much based in intuition as well. That's why Star Wars is different from Star Trek. Wars made a big point about following your instincts. You put on the blast shield so that you cannot see, like Luke did to train with the light saber. You take off the computer to blow up the Death Star. You rely on instinct. Star Wars never uses the word "intuition" out right, but it's a major factor in using the Force.

  29. Evidently the Disney Store is having a Star Wars event also in California tomorrow and Tuesday. Jedinews is going to cover that. Could this be a reveal of some new SW merchandise? News may start rolling downhill now.

  30. JJ will be in attendance to confiscate all phones, so there will be no tweeters. All guests will be made sign an NDA upon arrival. Ah well. :)

    1. This is laughable fake. Is one really to believe Disney would put out a sheet as poorly designed as this? The actor thumbnails are not scaled the same size, nor are they even close to being lined up in a nice order. Photoshop fail to say the least.

    2. LOL, it's a good cast. But it's horribly fake.

When we hits december 2015, a disney spokesman will come forward and say Star Wars movie what movie. We have been working on Pigs in Space the movie. With dark lord of the porks.

  42. Well if they have 3 sources confirming it, and they know some of the sources personally, why would they lie about this? I call BS on the 'denial'.

  43. We're only damaging ourselves by obsessing over every detail of this as-yet-to -be in production movie. It's really no different than the toll porn takes on one's health and natural ambitions. I dont think I have the energy for it anymore. Maybe when I was younger. I'm close to just throwing in the towl and sticking to official news.

  44. And like porn, a guy can say "that's it, I've had it....I can't do this anymore" And as soon boobies flash across the screen it's,....."Lets rock and roll".

    It's an endless cycle.

That's why you have to just walk away.
