  1. I really hope the announcements will confirm some actors/actrices and/or something more about the plot!

Anyone going to buy that han in carbonite?? Haha

  2. Not surprised about the filming schedule. Anything to get it right!

  3. All well and good, nothing completely out of the ordinary. It'd be nice to get some legit confirmations tomorrow, but what's that thing on Ezra's arm in that new poster, a light-slingshot? I truly hope they're not trying to convince us that there's some sort of way to manipulate molten plasma in that way, because in my opinion, that's just not cool.

    1. Agreed. Plus, the whole thing looks way too disneyfied.

    2. Holy crap, it IS a light-slingshot. Oy...

I never knew that Dennis the Menace founded the Rebellion. Ain't that a humdinger!

    3. Light-slingshot, that's just D-U-M-B.

    4. It's not looking like this'll set the stage for a Star Wars animated series I'd watch over TCW, and I thought that show was awful! My eyes are set entirely on Episode VII. I say let Disney have their way with the animated series as long as they leave EpVII development to the fans and OT veterans. They're really the only ones we can trust to not royally fuck this up.

    5. Disney trashed the Expanded Universe..... for this?!?

    6. I glanced and didn't even notice that the first time. He's surrounded by people with blasters and for some reason he's elected to go with ... that.

But hey, can you imagine the toy sales?

    7. IIRC the slingshot was pretty visible in action in one of the Rebels videos.

    8. I'm guessing he's going to be a turd character at first...Hopefully it doesn't take him 3 seasons to become tolerable like it did Ahsoka.

    9. I hated TCW as it was just an even more boring rehash of the prequel films, and I really liked the sound and concept of Rebels so I was really looking forward to it, but then they got in Dave Filoni again and by the looks of it it's still dumb kiddy stuff, although this time it's a rehash of the originals instead of the prequels. It's a shame kid's shows have become dumbed-down shlock, rather than just a fresh and interesting tv show that happens to be child-friendly.

    10. Should the character really be using his bare fingers to operate that weapon? I can suspend disbelief to a point but at best that's an accident waiting to happen.

    11. As far as I'm aware there's no alloy in the SWU that could be fashioned into some kinda glove and would allow a kid to grasp molten plasma like Ezra seems to be doing. Is this some kinda joke? Are they just mocking the fans?

      Delete
    12. I don't know. Maybe he has amazing regenerative healing powers like Wolverine??? Although even if you did I'd think a blaster would still be preferable. I can't really justify the existence of that weapon unfortunantly.

      Delete
    13. Especially since we're lead to believe that he's not a particularly wealthy individual, are we also expected to believe he created this weapon himself?

      Delete
    14. You mean cause he's living off his allowance right?

    16. If I recall correctly, Ezra is a rouge youngster who's being trained in the Jedi way by Kanan, right? Where the fuck did he get that technology, why havent the jedi been using it, wouldnt a "light-slingshot" be almost the exact same thing as a blaster and are they really so desperate that they include something as stupid as this just to make the character a little more interesting?

    17. Fun with light saber parts! Let your kids come down today and get their fingers burned off for the low price of 43232 Imperial credits!

    18. I'm not quite as up on the lore for the new series so I can only answer Joe's last question. Problem is I'm almost positive that it was rhetorical ...

    21. It looks like the light-sling-shot (if it sounds horrible to say it probably is horrible) comes out of his wrist.

I now know what to expect if I can even bring myself to watch it.

      -lowhummnig

I'm sure it will be great for a lot of people but I feel its a wasted opportunity.

It will show how the rebels were formed they said, it will touch on the remaining hiding jedi they say, it will be based on Ralph Mcquarrie art they said, it will be more like the original triliogy they said.

      You'll have fun they said.

(joins Dekka slowly banging head against wall)

  4. *sigh* If only the actors were allowed to be just as human in the PT as they were in the blooper reel... :\

    1. More PT hate. How original. Go jump into a Sarlaac Pit.

    2. lol, it's not hate. It's a very good point actually that I also spotted. The actors in the bloopers look way more fun and human than their characters in the entire film. But gooood, goooood, let the hate floooow throuugh you.

    3. I was thinking the same thing!! Haha, I really liked that part when Anakin said "God that's hot!" and Padmé laughed...why didnt they use that shot? It would've been a great way to bring real sense of growing love between them....

    4. AnonymousApril 14, 2014 at 4:50 PM - LOL! Funny stuff, funny stuff.

      Delete
    5. lol that's true. That single blooper alone with the hot soup had more on screen chemistry than all their scenes combined

      Delete
    6. "…I really liked that part when Anakin said "God that's hot!" and Padmé laughed...why didnt they use that shot?"

Because hearing a Jedi utter the word "god" wouldn't make any sense?

Change that to "Blast, that's hot!" and then you have something.

      Delete
    7. okaaay well then why didn't they do "Blast, that's hot"..

  7. Interesting about the Pinewood June comment. My theory is that the Big 3 will shoot in Africa or wherever they are building Tatooine for the first 4 weeks. Then they transfer to Pinewood about mid June. 4 weeks in the desert, one week break, and then shooting in the UK, buying the producers more time to find the new trio of leads.

  8. I don't think a lot will be accomplished during May shooting, because actors have to rehearse (some people don't realize how much work goes into this, but it's insures that a production will go smoothly), sets have to be finished, stunt doubles trained, actors choreographed (fight scenes take a lot of work to nail down properly). I love the work involved in any production (especially a Star Wars production).

    1. They have been in pre-production for a while now. They are actually already doing some shooting. Are you under the impression that Disney hasnt been doing pre-production for months now? Like mid-May they are gonna start training the actors? Because thats 100% wrong

      Delete
  9. Sure, the production has time on its side, so when Alan Horn says the principals are not yet cast, I believe him. Take your time and get it right.

    1. It will be a nonlinear progression. Pre-production will have been completed, all costumes designed, some fabricated, including weapons and equipment. Work-benches full of character and vehicle maquettes stamped and approved, and CG modelling of principle spacecraft underway, with possibly the 'hero' craft fully-rendered for inspection. Several special effects sequences such as space battles and background character-capturing will be underway, commencing early rather than waiting for the live-action shoot to end beforehand, since live-action can be comped into CG mattes after the surrounding set-pieces have been designed and animated. Modern film-making offers huge flexibility.

    2. Good points, John. It's easy to forget the hundreds of people working behind the scenes to craft the film.

  10. "Announcement coming soon", Tomorrow? I bet any major news will be on May 4th. It looks like filming got delayed again. Yawn.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Not sure how you've come to that conclusion. Location shoots almost always happen first before production shifts to soundstages. Pinewood will have been leased to Disney/Lucasfilm for specific dates. Any delays would cost them massively financially as well as delay other productions. In other words it will start on time. And remember, Bad Robot also expanded their green screen facilities at Santa Monica especially for Ep 7. This is "just down the road" for Hamill, Fisher etc so it's feasible they have allready started shooting there.

    2. I wouldn't bet on May the 4th.
They already have to announce some "Rebels" stuff that day, as they say on the official website.
I'm pretty sure they will never announce "Rebels" and "Episode VII" the same day; it'd be counterproductive.

    3. Based on the flow of things thusfar, my assumption is that every 3-4 months, Disney will release an update that will really tell us very little of significant meaning for the plot/cast until 2015. Even with the lure that is merchandising during Christmas, I doubt that we'll know much of significance by then.

    4. Sadly, as I said it was a new unproven source, and I felt it very speculative. Nothing materialised. Which is why I never ran it as a report. As disappointed as you. Not the first time anyone has been wrong, and will not be the last. At least i downplayed it heavily.

For everyone's info the June info came from someone else. Not sure how I feel about that, but kind agree with many of the other comments - it seems to fit if they are indeed filming abroad.
