Happy Birthday, George!!!

star wars

What else can be said about genius? I'll attempt to try --

Genius has been incarnated in a man named George Lucas. It goes without saying that he has touched the lives of millions of people worldwide with the gift he gave us, called "Star Wars." He has brought us, the fans, together as one, giant, global, and definitely dysfunctional, family. But we're still family nonetheless. When we meet a stranger who wears a Star Wars T-shirt, that flag of loyalty, or proudly displays Star Wars ink, we instantly recognize them as family. He has done what no other world leader has been able to do. That is genius. And Mr. Lucas, has entertained us, and speaking personally, educated us through his exploration of mythology like no other person on the planet. That is genius. And, perhaps most importantly, "Uncle George" fought his own war against Hollywood in order to change the movie industry and the Hollywood Blockbuster forever! That is genius!

We at starwars7news and all the fans around the world wish Mr. George Lucas a very Happy Birthday on this momentous seventieth year!

Thank you, George!

  1. Happy Birthday, nerfherder.
Love the creator, loath the businessman! That is the way of things... The way of the Force.

  3. Happy Birthday George.
I met him once in New York and all I could say from a choaked throat was Thank You but I think he knew those words from a fan means a hell of a lot.

  4. Happy Birthday, George Lucas! q:D

As a child, you were godlike and mysterious with the OT, like a mystical and fantastic Santa Claus figure. Sadly, I saw the horrible truth with the PT, but at least it opened my eyes to see WHY I loved the OT so much. Lastly, I'm in awe at your humility, courage and willingness to relinquish power to Disney so that others can have the opportunity to continue the good work you began with Star Wars.

I trust that when VII releases and is a well received success, I shall see you standing proudly besides Ben, Yoda and Anakin Skywalker as a symbolic gesture of your growth as a human being. May the Force be with you! :D

  6. Good creative impulse and ability to organize and use the talents of others that will inspire the creativity of generations to come, an undeniable visionary as he saw the possibilities of the use of computers in cinema before anyone else, a stubborn hypocritical mule for not releasing the original theatrical versions of the OT, but a true marketing genius I think is a bare bones fare assessment of the man. I wish him only the best.

  9. Happy birthday George, you were a genius until the mid to late 80's. Then the special edition came out.

  11. Not so long ago, in this very galaxy... one George Lucas crafted a masterpiece that would prove to stand the test of time. Star Wars was born. Since then, many an Ewok, Gungan, prequel and even a Dark Lord of the Sith's character integrity were harmed in the making of these productions through such witty barbs such as "George sucks" and "Star Wars sucks".

    I know, right? Ouch.

...but he got us back alright... you bet he did with such things as the special editions, rendering the EU non-canon but never outright saying the EU was non-canon whilst still maintaining neutral ground on the possibility of the EU games being canon, and at least some of the books... confused? Good times. He gave back as good as he got to each of us oft ungrateful fans, some more so than others, but that is the thing... throughout it all he gave us a bright future filled with MORE Star Wars fun, and I hope it is telling of how much his genius means to us as we are here to say happy birthday George Lucas. Happy birthday.

  16. When I dream something that seems too audacious to be possible I think of two things, how glad I was when my cynicism was proven wrong and America elected its first black president and how you must have felt to see news coverage of lines stretching for blocks just to see the cinematic approximation of your own dream, a dream that would have died in notebooks had you not fought for it every day despite discouragement, sleeplessness, creative blocks, and damage to your physical health. Despite being a prequel naysayer, I readily acknowledge that, all said, you have given the world a great gift.
