Pic of the Day: Disney's Bob Iger and Chewie at Pinewood?

star wars

Star Wars posted on Instagram a selfie of Bob Iger with Chewbacca tagged as "Chairman's co-pilot".

Many people are speculating that the image is taken from the Episode 7 set at Pinewood! Chewie looks pretty good to me.

    4. He also looks a tad more male, so as to keep up the Star Wars gender inequality. Allegedly.

    5. His RotS suit had a lot of padding on underneath to bulk him up. Apparantly, 20 years of not swinging from trees makes you really skinny.

  4. He already looks 100x better than he did in RotS. They must be using proper mohair.

  6. I think those are Peter Mayhew eyes :)

I'm surprised he hasn't changed anything, I was expecting a different hair color (some gray)

    1. Wookies don't go grey as they age - their eyes just get smaller!

      Delete
  7. According to established SW lore, Wookies live for centuries, so there is little reason for Chewie to be graying after a mere 30 years. Also, perhaps his species doesn't gray anyway, no more than (say) a black dog turns gray with age.

    1. dose this mean Itchy was naturally grey to begin with? or was he just really really old?

  11. I'm worried about him because Chewbacca was killed off in The New Jedi Order - Vector Prime (1999), a novel by R. A. Salvatore

      Delete
    2. I wouldn't be so sure about that. How many times have heard one thing, and then seen another? It may not be Canon yet, but once its on screen its canon. Don't be shocked when they borrow a lot from the EU.

    5. The EU is not fucking canon. How many official anouncements does it take for this to sink in. They've seperated the canon and the EU, which is now under the name 'Legends'.

      Delete
    6. "Don't be shocked when they borrow a lot from the EU."

If we find out that Luke's spent most of the last 3 decades looking for info on the old Jedi Order, that's not borrowing from the EU; that's common sense, plain and simple.

If we find out that Leia's been very much involved with galactic politics, even to the point of being or having been elected as ruler of the new galactic govmt., that's not borrowing from the EU. It's common sense, based on her upbringing and Padmé passing on some of her traits to her daughter.

Do NOT expect to see Luke married with children, however, as that does NOT make any sense at all.

Do NOT expect to see any Solo child following on grandaddy's footsteps, falling to the Dark Side and becoming a Sith, as that will be lame, predictable and dull as hell.

Anything that may be "borrowed" from the EU is not because some fanfic wannabe writer lucky enough to get a contract from Lucasfilm thought of it first, but because they just happened to follow a reasonable line of thinking, that any 6 yr. old with 2 functioning braincells could have thought of.

    7. For those who think EU is dead let me tell you this...
In our library there are many novels and comics saying it is alive and kicking..and if Disney alter it in a way that will not much with the past 2 decades of reading and collecting ( lets say ..Mara Jade never exist so do Ben Skywalker ) then we will stop bothering with the new project and stop spending our money which is by the way a lot lot more from those spend by the newcomers...and SW will end for us with Cade Skywalker...simple as that...almost 4 decades will stop to evolve...it's ok there are many more novels to read yet ( although i have over 50 ), 1 per year will suffice for 1 or 2 decades more ..long after you will have forgot SW....

      Delete
    8. awwwww.... we will miss you. NOT!. Oh.....i'm afraid the EU will be quite dead once this film arrives. Now witness the full power of the canon and witness the end of your EU paperback collection.I assure you...we are quite safe from your pitiful little Expanded Universe. it was created for nothing more but to fund and ressurect the future Star Wars movies. Lucas has ALWAYS said from the BEGINING that he would never follow the EU and has openly voiced his dislike of pretty much the whole time line and was quoted saying that Luke would never stray from his important path to become a husband and father. it is your own fault that you fell for the EU trap. noone is putting a gun to your head to buy a movie ticket....if your gonna be that butthurt about it...dont go to the theater and just stick to your boring books that have no place in the real universe. you set yourself up for dissapointment. the plan has been clear from the begining, it is your fault you didnt pay attention and listen..The ORIGINAL plan and quotes from Lucas are the exact reason i never bought into the whole EU. why would you want to waste your time reading stories that in all seriousness...are meaningless and dont even matter? Young fool..it is only now.....in the end...that you understand....now...your EU WILL die....

  23. Now, that sounds like a round-up call for actors to fill out stuff like spaceport/cantina type scenes. Interesting, distinctive looks, etc. I hope they get some cool ones!

Doesn't look like casting for principle roles, though. I'd hope they're well past that stage with whatever main cast they still need to fill.

    1. According to the casting call, "“Salty Sea Dogs [are] Wanted”. Could we be going to an OCEAN planet this time around? That could be something of a novelty. Yes, there was the storm-ridden Kamino back in Episode II, but a more "sailable" ocean might be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't think we know how fortunate we are here lol. This chewie could have been CGI. The cast could have had justin bieber in. But instead we have an academy award winning writer Michael Arndt, writting a first draft, then the final one being written by somebody who writes hilarious dialogue, JJ, and somebody who wrote the best film of the saga, Lawrence Kasdan. George Lucas could have just gotten his kids to do it. I can't believe people actually think this film is going to suck. It's going to be at least good. It just depends how good. It could be the best yet.

    3. @anonymous 6:25 is spot on. Some people just love to complain no matter what. If you give them a million dollars, they will want a billion dollars. We have the big 3 back and people are bitching about the lack of women?! typical and pathetic

      Delete
    4. Just go look at pics of Chewie in Revenge of the Sith and then look at this pic again. Star Wars is in good hands. They are treating it with such respect but not so much so that it won't have room to grow.

    5. Anon @ 9:50 PM

That's the sort of nonsense thinking that holds women back in Star Wars. Too many butt-hurt fanboys don't want to give up power to their boys' club.

      Delete
    6. The starships will all be CGI. With the rush to have Ep7 made, no way that time-consuming retrograde effects technologies will dominate. As Mrs Kennedy states sensibly, every tool in the box will be used. Exactly how Lucasfilm constructed SW under Lucas ... cutting edge special effects where economically feasible. Star War should lead the way in such application.

      Delete
    7. What rush? It's release is in December 2015. It's only May 2014. They've probably already built all the models and have started filming them against green screen already for all we know.

    8. "We have the big 3 back and people are bitching about the lack of women?! typical and pathetic"
Oh come on. You're clearly just ignoring the truth. The lack of women is a problem. Female characters are very important for films. They shake up the dynamics between characters. It actually makes a change because we're so used to seeing men as the heroes. It gives more females something to connect to which is vital for something like star wars which hasn't had many females in the past. Just because the effects don't apply to you doesn't mean other people can't voice their disappointment, because THAT'S pathetic.
