UPDATE 2! Rumor: Is Ray Park Involved With Star Wars 7?

star wars

Rey-Phillip Santos, the person who posted a few days ago the picture with the mysterious creature tagged #darkside and who is listed on IMDb as an Episode VII production staff, shared another interesting image...

Possible SPOILERS!

(May 27, 2014)

This time Santos posted an image (above) with actor Ray Park who played Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace and is also famous for his acrobatic skills. The image is named "The Sith".

The image is not new but could this be another hint at Park's possible involvement with the movie? I'm not saying that Park will again play a Sith in Episode VII. Still, his possible appearance will not be surprising at all. He has great fighting and weapon wielding skills. Also he could very well play any character (from an alien to a regular human) in the movie or even they can use him as a stunt double.

The Phantom Menace

For now take this one with a huge grain of salt but still have it in mind.

Thanks to @Slewnay for the heads up.

And ICYMI here's the image Santos previously posted:

UPDATE!

(May 28. 2014)

Here's another image posted by the same guy:

It's tagged "Stargate Atlantis" and it's obviously from that movie where Santos is credited as a stunt performer. There is a slight resemblance between the two creatures. So is it possible that this guy is just looking for attention? Could be. Still he has many credits as an actor, choreographer, production assistant etc.

UPDATE 2!

(May 30, 2014)

Okay let's put some more fuel to the fire. Now Rey-Phillip Santos has either deleted or made private his Instagram and Facebook accounts because you can no longer see the stunt video (you can still see it here) and the picture tagged darkside. Also his other photos (including the one with Ray Park) are removed. Here's their previous location:

Instagram
Facebook
Stage32

And his name is still listed on IMDb as an Episode 7 production staff.

While this new update kinda gives some credibility to the guy still take it with the usual amount of salt and treat it as a regular rumor. But have in mind that the darkside creature that Santos posted has a strong resemblance with Iain McCaig's unused concept art of a Sith Witch from The Phantom Menace. Very often unused concepts from previous movies  are used in future installments. That might be the case here too.

More on that story you can find here!

    1. They were just using a pic to show everyone who Ray Park is and what he can do.

    2. Thanks for alerting everyone the pic is from episode 1. No one would have figured that out.

    3. Not like it doesn't say "The Phantom Menace" under the picture or anything... The body of the article was related to the other pictures which have been posted recently.

  2. It'd be cool if Park got a cameo as a human Jedi. I'd be fine with that.

    3. This is a story about a few interesting photos posted by a guy who has many credits as production assistant and is listed as a production staff on Episode 7. Surely IMDb is not reliable but I think it's worth mentioning. It's not something that I made up. Jeez!

    4. The pic from yesterday was already far stretched, but kind of interesting and I guess worth a mention. The Ray Park thing is just hot air.

  8. But since TCW is considered canon, we know that Maul is not dead, so there's a possibility that he could return as well.... With his mechanical legs.

    3. I agree, his martial arts and weapons skills could be used for a variety of characters in the new movie.

    4. Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah! There's still plenty of meat on that bone! Now, you bring him back, throw him in a pot, add a sweet new costume, an amazing voice actor... baby, you got a stew going! |-D

    5. @Darth Whiffy - What makes you think that he'd be in hiding? In TCW, he travelled the galaxy gathering together various different criminal gangs and amalgamating them into a single force. So what's to stop him from continuing and building his own empire elsewhere? Or even travelling to the next nearest galaxy (in hypersleep / stasis, presumably) and creating an empire there, to eventually come back and attack the Jedi / the remains of the Sidious' empire? To involve another entire galaxy would open the SW universe up massively! Think of all the new races, technologies, back-stories, characters and factions it would bring in! Disney would be foolish not to consider it.... They would rake in billions for decades to come.

  11. As much as I dislike the prequels, Ray Park deserves to return to Star Wars. It's a shame he couldn't also play Maul for Episodes II and III.

I would love to see him return to VII as a brand new character. Do him justice this time! :D

    3. Enough of this prequel hate. If Andy Serkis can be in Star Wars because of his motion capture experience, ray park has every right to be here too. (Quite frankly, Parks' job is harder than Serkis' job,)

Lmao what a load of crap. Hey guys an actor is in the film and he might be doing motion capture so Ray Park should be in the film too. .. There is literally no logic to that whatsoever.

  14. If this guy is an assistant on EP7 he should be fired. Abrams has strict rules. No cell phones no pics no leaking info. This guy has done all of this

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Unless, Abrams has made this assistant throw us smoke screens. I mean really, this has kept us busy talking about Ray Park and some sketchy pictures that may have nothing to do with EP VII. It sounds like something Abrams would do.

    2. I'm convinced JJ Abram is using Rey and staff to post these as a distraction like he did with Lost, Cloverfield etc.

  15. The two pictures he posted look like images of witches, or perhaps people possessed by demons (especially the latter which reminds me of the evil dead).
Is this guy trying to hint it has something to do with SW7?

  16. Hello,
I have recently set up a shop on Etsy and was wondering if you would like to check out some of my items!
    My shop is CCPArt

It would be great to get some feed back or even better if you would like to purchase anything
If you would like something original and one of a kind just ask! Even if you can't see it

Thanks for taking the time to read my message

      Wow.

It is an absolute insult to expect people to pay $100+ for badly drawn sketches with Star Wars lego glued to it.

      Again, wow.

  18. The creature in the pic tagged "Stargate Atlantis" is from... Stargate Atlantis. Santos has a credit as stunt performer in the episode where that creature is from. Took two seconds for me to find it on IMDB. Come on, Viral.
So that pic actually makes him more credible since it is of a creature he actually played.

    1. Update: I did more looking around and that exact pic from SGA is elsewhere credited to a character played by Jewel Staite (aka Kaylee from Firefly). http://scifiandtvtalk.wordpress.com/2009/11/22/
Either the guy is full of it and is misusing that pic, that pic is of him as a stunt performer for Jewel and the website assumed it was Jewel in the makeup, or he put up a pic of the character he stunted for.

      Delete
    2. Errr, I think the name Stargate Atlantis was enough for people to understand that it is from Stargate Atlantis... My point is that both creatures have a resemblance, at least for me. And I really can't see anyone posting images from the movie and getting away with it. Most likely he's just looking for attention.

      Delete
    3. The way you stated it made it seem that because he was posting an image marked "Stargate Atlantis" and it looks similar to the first pic (still don't think it is that close) we should conclude "So probably this guy is just looking for attention." Because you concluded from the picture that the guy is looking for attention, I thought that perhaps you didn't know what Stargate Atlantis was and thought he was making something up on his own. Either way, the resemblance between the pics doesn't mean anything as the SGA pic is professional. My point stands. Though I agree that Disney would not let this guy put up a pic like that.

      Delete
    4. Santos is legit but somehow it got blown out where some fans SW fans confused it with SW when it was a acting role on Stargate years ago. If I were I would just remove those old photos or set it on private before he gets fired lol.

      Delete
    5. Who said the SGA pic was SW related? The first pic that this site posted was tagged #darkside by Santos. If you think the first pic is the same creature as the second one from SGA, it isn't. Those are two different makeups and costumes. And if there is confusion, it is due to Santos posting an image like that tagged Dark Side while he is supposedly working on EP7.

      Delete
    6. I honestly think someone is pretending to be him. According to Santos's rep at the link below, he doesn't have any social media profiles that he runs. Or JJ Abrams is using him and staff as a smokescreen posting crumbs to confuse fans like he did with his other projects in the past. http://contactanycelebrity.com/trial/do/celebrityView?name=Rey-Phillip+Santos

  19. Now that´s really idiotic think, to mix cartoon with normal movies and call everything canon. To me the only canon will be always the movies, but never someone who "survived" from being cutting in half like Darth Maul.....I have no problem with Clone Wars...I´ll enjoy wathing it as a different - cartoon - star wars universe, never to be mixed with the more realistic movie stuff.....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That is your opinion, and you are entitled to it. Just as long as you understand that the creator of Star Wars determines his own canon and you realize that The Clone Wars IS official canon despite your opinion.
And, just because it is animated doesn't mean the stories can't be in the same world as the movies.
And why do you find it hard to believe Maul survived? Prosthetic limbs and half robot guys in walking iron lungs have been there since the beginning. This is a world of fantasy and space opera sci-fi.

    2. Oh look. You have an opinion. That's cute.

    1. That's not a convention photo thats from a scifi/stunt workshop in Canada with some well know actors who can do their own stunts. I remember seeing that exact same photo on Ray Park's official FB before it disappeared with some other actors from the show Continum. Mostly B-list actors were there as guests.
