First Star Wars Stand-Alone Movie To Begin Filming Next Year at Pinewood Studios.

Chancellor George Osborne has revealed on Twitter that the first Star Wars stand-alone movie will begin filming at Pinewood Studios next year...

Osborne made the announcement during a visit to the Star Wars: Episode VII set.

From BBC:

Mr Osborne said the decision to shoot Episode VII in the UK was "testament to the incredible talent in Britain" and meant "more jobs and more investment".

Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy said: "The UK crew that we're working with on Star Wars: Episode VII is incredible. They're among the most gifted and passionate when it comes to film and storytelling. Star Wars couldn't be in better hands."

The first spin-off movie will be directed by Gareth Edwards with story written by Gary Whitta.

  1. Great news! I wonder what it'll be about...

Will Abrams be on board as a producer or something?

    2. How dare you, WackyBantha! It's an insult to suggest that Osborne could be a Sith.

One believes in greed and selfishness, forever promoting himself and his dark ideology, twisting facts and half-truths alike t suit his ambition. He appears to care little for the suffering of others, only the power of the few and the one. He relies on the weakness of useful idiots and the easily fooled.

The other follows the dark side of the Force.

JJ is a nerd, which requires him wearing socially unacceptable clothing. The franchise could not be in better hands.

  10. First one can be called " Bounty Lord " starring Bobba Fett , and starts at begining right after his dad Jango Fett gets killed by Mace Windu. And instead of the movie following the clones, etc, it follows little Boba as he escapes etc. ,and everntually leads up to when he becomes a Bounty hunter for first time. After capturing a handful of bountys ,and fighting other bounty hunters, and becoming a name across the universe, he gets a message from the Empire wanting to meet with him and pay for a job. This is where he meets Darth vader and them other bounty hunters like that green lizard on the Star destroyer. And the job would be getting Han Solo and the Wookie just like in ep.5 ..... But instead of the camera flollowing Han and Vader, it follows Bobba and eventually ends up with Han and flys to Jabba, and at end of movie when u think he dies in sarlac pit, he survives with his armor and right when he gets back to the top, Jabbas barge blow up ( in ep6 ), and then when hes able to get his wind , he sees the Falcon and X-wing flying up and into space ( like in ep.6 ), and then Bobba sets out on a new adventure for part 2.

    1. Anon - Although The Clone Wars kind of already told a lot of the story in your fan fiction / speculation of the young Boba Fett, I would also love to see a behind the scenes look at an older Fett in the vein of "Shadows of the Empire". But I really doubt we will even see a Boba Fett spin-off at this point. If we do, I think it will stray away from the continuity aspect of the films and tell a story of the character that is not connected to the PT or OT. Sometimes little tie-ins are cool, but I think the problem with a lot of the existing Expanded Universe novels, comics, etc. is their focus on continuity and tying in the PT, the OT, and the current EU together. As a result, the stories and the characters suffer as they are limited in the stories they can tell and the direction that specific characters can go. Although some "easter eggs" might be nice, I really hope they stray away from established film plot lines for the spin-offs and do completely new stories.

    3. The lizard is Bossk. And he was a normal, functioning member of his lizard society on his planet until a race of humanoids, disguised as lizards, showed up, offered an olive branch for peace, and infiltrated his world with the intention of domination. Only when they were discovered by a public pulling off their lizard masks did he lizard people realize their hideous intentions and Bossk set off across the universe to only human bounties. If you post fic, you should know the characters.

  16. I'm scratching my head, trying to work out what stage of completion the Falcon model is in. Rumours had it that it was finished months ago, and if shooting is beginning now, then it must have been finished. The above photo on the surface contradicts everything. Unless, the Falcon has already been shot and is being dismantled?

    1. Or, of course, it might be the window-frame for another version of the same ship (dismantled and heavily-damaged), or a different ship entirely from the same Corellian template.

  25. Star Wars was inspired by the movie serials of the 30s and 40s and now it will be THE movie serial of the 10s and 20s. George Lucas talked about this happening for Star Wars back in the 70s after the first movie came out. Oh and Episode VIII won't be out until 2018, with Episode IX coming out in 2021, not 2017 and 2019......
I just can't wait until 2022 when I can marathon Episodes I - IX on my couch with my bon.... um er glass water pipe....

  27. Eh, OK whatever. Until we know something about what this movie will be, it's nothing to get excited about. Just because it's connected to "Star Wars" doesn't hold as much weight as it used to. So far all we have it potential greatness.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Um ya it is something to get excited about even if its to soon to know much about it....
That's like saying you can't get excited for birthday presents because you don't know what your going to get... Ever seen Forest Gump?? The unknown is sometimes more exciting than the known. If I find out it's another Ewok movie I won't be very excited anymore... Honestly it's too soon to be disappointed about the spin off movies so stop being so cynical.

    1. Better advise is to guard your feelings until you know more because you could just as well be in for disappointment. Better not expect much and be surprised then ignorantly get all excited and get your hopes up now only to be crushed when you become more informed later. I don't know about you but I'm not making the same mistake I did with The Phantom Menace.

  30. Here we go again, with Lucasfilm giving the fans a major set of blue balls. More teasing. They tell us that Gareth Edwards will direct the first spinoff at Pinewood and then they don't tell us what the hell the movie is!!

I guarantee you they won't announce what the spinoff is until EP7 is done shooting. Kinda hate that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. actuallly I disagree. Epidode 7 should be the focus until it´s release because it will launch a new age for star wars. The reception of this movie will affect the franchise moving forward so its good to see they are mostly focused on it.

    1. I see what you mean... I just want to know is the spinoff Solo, Fett, etc... I don't see how a Fett movie can work. You never see the lead character's face, or almost never. Hard to command the screen when you can't see the actor's eyes.
