UPDATE! George Lucas on His Involvement with Episode 7 and His Thoughts on J.J. Abrams. Lucas Receives an Emmy Award for Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

George Lucas talked briefly with Access Hollywood at the 2013 Crystal + Lucy Awards sharing his involvement with the upcoming movies and why J.J. Abrams is perfect for the job. Also Star Wars: The Clone Wars received 2 Emmy Awards presented by Carrie Fischer to Lucas...

UPDATE: Added a video with Lucas below.
“Yeah, [I’m excited]. J.J.’s a great director and we’re friends,” George told Access Hollywood, when asked if he’s looking forward to J.J.’s films. “I think he understands the whole thing and how it works. And if he doesn’t, [Lucasfilms president] Kathy [Kennedy] will keep it straight,” he added with a laugh.

As for his own involvement in the next three films, George said he won’t be doing “much.”

“If they need help or anything, they’ll give me a call,” he said. “Otherwise, I’m off on my own.”
Additionally, the legendary director said that no matter how good “Episode VII” is, there will always be critics.
“No matter how you do it, it’s a complicated cultural icon. Therefore you’re always going to be in trouble no matter what you do,” he said. “So, the best thing you can do is just plow forward and try to do the best story you can.”
