Disney XD will air the teaser during the premiere of "Mighty Red" on Monday at 8:30 ET/PT. The teaser will be only 15 seconds long. This will be our second look at something Star Wars related since Disney bought Lucasfilm almost a year ago. The first was the teaser of the game Battlefront. Hit the jump for more details about the plot as well as when to expect more official announcements...

UPDATE!

Here's the short teaser:

I expected something more original. Obviously their point is to show us that these series will feel more like the Original Trilogy. Not like the Clone Wars which had a feel similar to the Prequel Trilogy.

First here's the official release by StaWars.com and little clarification from Lucasfilm's Tracy Cannobbio:

As we know so far the series is set between the events of Episode III and IV. It takes place in a time where "the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape."

Now some more possible plot details emerged from BleedingCool (via makingstarwars.net).

According to them Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia are eight years old during the series and they’re not in it. That means Star Wars Rebels  takes place eight years after Revenge of the Sith or twelve years before A New Hope.

The first film is about the Galactic Empire taking over a planet. A bunch of people are lined up, even some of the parents fall into line but a group of teenagers refuse. The teenagers go on the run in a ship called the “Ghost,” which we saw at CEII. So the teenagers are the rebels and the adults are the Galactic Empire.

The “Ghost” ship is going to be the thing they sell heavily and the “home base” of the series. A lot of Star Wars Rebels will be set on the ship.

There will be plenty more Star Wars: RebeIs news coming in the next week. The show will be presented at this year's New York Comic Con (October 10-13, 2013) by Pablo Hidalgo.

Here's the official press release from StarWars.com:

Star Wars Rebels: The Might of the Empire
Saturday, October 12, 2013
2:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m., Room 1E

What happens when the Galactic Empire takes over a planet? What if Imperials took interest in your world, and garrisoned Stormtroopers and TIE fighters to maintain order? Star Wars Rebels, the thrilling, all-new animated television series from Lucasfilm for Disney XD will ask those questions -- and so will this panel hosted by Lucasfilm's resident Star Wars expert, Pablo Hidalgo.

Details on the show are closely guarded, but fans at NYCC will get a first look at new art from the series, and learn new information about the formidable forces of the Galactic Empire. Star Wars Rebels is set between Episodes III and IV, and it is a dark time in the galaxy. In the spirit of the original trilogy, the Empire is once again the preeminent villain of the saga, and Star Wars Rebels puts the awesome might of Imperial forces in the spotlight.

  1. Looks good. I'm just hoping the characters don't have that 'doll' look they had in the Clone Wars. More realism would be nice.

    1. I agree but I'm getting the feeling, being that they are on the heels of their clone wars emmy that rebels will probably be in line with that. Not to mention the fact that Thunderbirds is getting a reboot.

  3. Teenagers rebelling against their parents? How compelling.

Will there be Star Twerking involved?

    1. Yeah this sounds fairly stupid.

Placing such a big importance on youth culture and considering children as being more wise than their elders is one of the primary reasons this country is in the dire state it's in now.

    2. Yeah, so let's all listen to the "wise" words and actions of superior elders like Ted Cruz, right?

    3. What does Ted Cruz have to do with the price of tea in China?

    4. As opposed to what?

Listening to the "wise" words of those who sprang from a rancid primordial stew of mind-altering substances and human urine at a rock concert in Woodstock back in the 60s?

      Brilliant.

  5. "So the teenagers are the rebels and the adults are the Galactic Empire."

Oh boy, this could be bad.

"The “Ghost” ship is going to be the thing they sell heavily and the “home base” of the series. A lot of Star Wars Rebels will be set on the ship."

So I guess we'll be watching the weekly adventures as we follow a bunch of teens in the Mystery Machi... er, I mean, the Ghost, as they fly around the galax solving mysteries?

Oops, I did it again! I meant battling Stormtroopers, of course.

Sure hope Episode VII gives us a lot more to chew on than it sounds like Rebels may!
